Abstract
Otto Warburg(1) introduced the tissue slice technique as a method for studying, by simple, easily controlled in vitro methods, the metabolism of tissues the structure of which had not been extensively disrupted. When we use this technique we assume, or hope, that results obtained may represent actual physiological activities or potentialities of the tissue. The technique has been described and discussed previously in commonly available volumes,(2,3) and I shall not repeat all the material written, nor the references cited, in the previous articles.
