The Influence of Consultant Competency and Consulting Service Quality on Small-Medium Enterprise’s Management Performance

Abstract

Background: This study aims to examine the relationship between the competency of consultants, the key factors in management consulting, the quality of SME management consulting services, and, finally, the management performance of SME.

Methods: This study conducted an online survey for 230 domestic SME employees to verify the research problem. For statistical verification, structural equation modeling is performed, and frequency analysis, Cronbach alpha reliability analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, and correlation analysis utilized SPSS 21 statistical package and structured to verify the final research problem. Equation modeling verification was analyzed through AMOS.

Finding: First, based on the research results that knowledge and attitude two factors among consultant competency have a positive effect on SME consulting service quality, when conducting management consulting for small- and medium-sized enterprises, specialized knowledge and client among consultants’ qualities. It is thought that the quality and quality of the consultant’s attitude and attitude should be managed and promoted. Second, among the quality of consulting services for SME, it was found that conviction and empathy ultimately improve SME management performance. Notably, the influence of confidence is considerable. It can be inferred that confidence has a high impact on the management performance of SME. In addition, since confidence is a factor that is formed based on trust and trust between a consultant and a client SME, it is necessary to focus on consulting preparation and operation management to build confidence based on trust and trust in consulting.

Improvement: This study verified the critical qualities of consultants and quality factors of consulting services that SEMs perceived as necessary, and also revealed the relationship with management performance.
