I have my creative studio in an old manor in Raudondvaris (Raudondvaris Castle art incubator). My colleague - seamstress Jolita is working from her studio in Vilnius. But if I am traveling for a longer time, I pack a small part of my studio into boxes and take it with me. When do you feel most creative? Like many things in life - balance plays a major role here too. I am most creative when I am not exhausted because of tons of work, but have quite some of it to keep me busy and moving, have enough sleep, quality time with my loved ones, and generally some free space in my head for new creative ideas to pop up and make themselves comfortable.

Why did you start your Etsy shop? That unique angle that it's a platform for artists and creators got me. I just love that Etsy is a platform where people are looking for special, handcrafted, and one-of-the-kind things from all over the world. And being a small, but unique creator is more valued than being a huge and strong manufacturer. It made me feel that I would fit in here perfectly when I was thinking about how to make my passion into a business.
What are three words that best describe you or your business? Authentic, intuitive, and craftsmanship.
What's your studio or working environment like? My studio is small but cozy. I think that it is in a perfect place - in historical old sight with lots of nature around. It has old wooden beams at the ceiling that reminds the history and old age of the place. There is always some sort of music or podcast playing in the background. But I have to be honest, when I work I make creative mess around myself. So my work environment is a bit chaotic too.

Lithuania When do you feel most creative? I feel most creative while working together with family, playing with our little boys. Time spent with family gives me a lot of fresh ideas. What inspires you? Wood. Wood is so versatile and organic that it is real pleasure making anything from toys to high interior pieces.

When do you feel most creative? I’d say “feeling creative” is a result of many different and multifaceted experiences: meeting people, travelling, reading, going to events etc., also simply wandering around, or doing nothing in particular (very important one!). If we’re talking about
“turning
that
feeling
into
something
tangible” (clothes, in my case), my best sketches come to life at my large dinner table. It becomes a huge mess that no longer serves it practical purpose, but that’s where the magic happens. I often have a clear image in my head of how my creation will look, who would wear it (or how could it be worn) at the very beginning of making it. What makes your creations special and different from others? I create everything by myself. I was working for a long time to create my own design. Each item is fully hand formed and hand painted - it's impossible to make two identical items. As a result, my creatures has my exceptional design and recognizable style. Also I pay lots of attention to aesthetics and quality and my customers value that. What's your studio or working environment like? My studio is very small so everything is very well organized and each corner is used. I love coffee and music so my workspace is filled with music and warming smell of coffee. I work together with my dog Umi, that means that my working environment is filled with good and friendly emotions. She loves when people come to look around.

What are the biggest challenges that occur in your business? Probably being a one-woman show, who needs to juggle all. Photography, emails, creating dolls, packing orders, social media... All the things that most artists nowadays have to do. It would be nice to have more time for creating art.

What makes your creations special and different from others? I think dolls themselves are a niche art form. That being said, I try to create whimsical characters that are born of my imagination. Most of them feature personified elements, erasing boundaries between animals, plants, and human-like creatures. The stranger, the better! Do you work alone? Yes, I feel that I can concentrate better alone, and feel more at ease and comfortable. In the future, I might need to hire some help because I barely have time for all my ideas. What's your studio or working environment like? It's a small downtown studio that I rent alone. It features two desks, loads of shelves for all the small things dolls require, and a kiln to fire porcelain. I love plants and flowers, so you'll find them there too. Also, a small sofa to chill and drink some coffee.

I strongly believe that changing seasons has an astonishing impact on one's creativity! For me the most creative time is when I can let my mind wander, when I do not have too many things to worry about and when beautiful nature nurtures my imagination. What's your favourite part of being an Etsy seller? I feel really blessed being among such creative and amazing people. Each of them is unique, imaginative and original and it is what makes this platform into an amazing place to start or develop your business. It feels great to be a part of a team of visionaries and I have already been an Etsy seller for a long time. Do you work alone? Yes, I do work alone and I am very happy with this arrangement at the moment. I am a creator, manager, time planner, photographer and supply manager at the same time, with all these tasks on my hands. Working alone allows me to immerse myself into the flow of my business process and I don‘t even need any music to keep me company! What's your favourite part of being an Etsy seller? Shipping handmade creations to anyone in the world. I find it fascinating that someone in Hawaii finds and buys my creations made here in Lithuania. What makes your creations special and different from others? We try to be eco-friendly as much as we can while creating our items. Mostly we use fabrics we bought from second hand shops. We tie dye everything and make cool patterns that often end up being one of a kind. Dyeing fabrics is such a mystery every time. You never know how everything will turn out, so it’s a very exciting process. What's your studio or working environment like? It’s a creative mess. There’s fabric, scraps and finished items in every corner. Tie dye can take a lot of space, especially when we need to dry out fabrics in the autumn/winter seasons. So we try to dye as much fabric as we can during summertime at the countryside.
