AbstractAbstract
[en] Multiple access technique is one of important techniques within medium access layer in TCP/IP protocol stack. Each network technology implements the selected access method. Priority can be implemented in those methods to differentiate services. Some internet networks are dedicated for specific purpose. Education browsing or tutorial video accesses are preferred in a library hotspot, while entertainment and sport contents could be subjects of limitation. Current solution may use IP address filter or access list. This paper proposes subjective properties of users or applications are used for priority determination in multiple access techniques. The NS-2 simulator is employed to evaluate the method. A video surveillance network using WiMAX is chosen as the object. Subjective priority is implemented on WiMAX scheduler based on traffic properties. Three different traffic sources from monitoring video: palace, park, and market are evaluated. The proposed subjective scheduler prioritizes palace monitoring video that results better quality, xx dB than the later monitoring spots. (paper)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Having dealt with the history of uranium mining and reactor catastrophe as the worst of feasible nuclear accidents the author proceeds to discuss the risks from radioactivity. The fact that contact with sources of radioactivity has become an everyday problem has led to a general awareness of the health consequences and presence of radioactivity as a decisive cofactor. The report challenges the trust-worthiness of experts and discusses the possibilities for citizens to offer resistance. Radiation-related diseases cannot be cured without taking political action and here the focus of attention must be shifted from individual cases and the limited availability of medical treatment to long-term preventive measures to be taken on a population-wide basis. This appears indispensable in view of the risks posed by radioactivity. (BBR)

(BBR)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] The human brain is not very different of the monkey's one: at least, its visual cortex is organized as a similar scheme. Specialized areas in the movement analysis are found and others in the forms perception. In this work, the author tries to answer to the following questions: 1)why so many visual areas? What are exactly their role in vision? Thirteen years of experimentation have not allowed to answer to these questions. The cerebral NMR imaging gives the opportunity of understanding the subjective perception of the visual world. One step which is particularly described in this work is to know how the visual cortex reacts to the optical illusions. (O.M.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Since the 1970s, Danish electricity supply has been dependent on imported coal. This has lead to greater reliability of supply, as could be seen during the Gulf War when Danish electricity prices remained stable in contrast to conditions in other countries. The disadvantage is the air pollution caused by coal combustion. This is regulated, it is stated, by several international laws and agreements, and these are named here. The nature of this form of pollution is explained in relation to actual Danish power plants and their efforts to reduce emissions of sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas, is also emitted. Danish environmental policy concentrates on these problems. The efforts of the electric power companies to reduce air pollution are detailed, both nationally and internationally, and their positive consequences are described. Desulphurization and denitrification costs are claimed to be 4.6 Danish oere and 1.9 Danish oere per year per kWh respectively. The firm Danish Power Consult has acted as consultant in relation to some power plants in China, resulting in a 15% increase in efficiency, leading to a saving of 300 million tons of coal used, this is about 30 times the amount of Denmarks annual consumption of coal in power plants. AbstractAbstract
[en] The following changes are considered: formation of tumor of lungs, pneumosclerosis and pulmonary edema and tracheo bronchial nodes fibrosis of animals subjected to inhalation of radioactive particles upon long-term effect of the least level of radioactive substance. The relationship between certain types of neoplasms arising upon inhalation of radioactive substances and probable cells-progenitors is shown. The neoplasms of animals subjected to radionuclide inhalation have been localized within the limits of pulmonary section of lungs and correlated with localization of radionuclides and fibrosis caused by this irradiation

Quantum mechanics, high energy physics and accelerators. Selected papers of John S. Bell (with commentary)1995
AbstractAbstract
[en] The intrinsic ambiguous approximate nature of quantum mechanics is discussed. The theory is fundamentally about the results of 'measurements', and therefore presupposes in addition to the 'system' (or object) a 'measurer' (or subject). The problems arising from this fact are investigated. (K.A.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A survey is given of the situation with regard to risk communication in the media and the current portrayal of risk in the media in its usual form. The concept of risk can be discussed from the point of view of various disciplines. Risk is dealt with from the point of view of collective interest, with emphasis on its capacity to be objectified. Risk is also considered from various individual view-points and from the angle of antagonistic relations. There is discussion of the problem of remaining risks and disasters based on least-likely causes. (DG)
