Halifax police charge youth support worker with criminal harassment

By CityNews Halifax Staff

Regional police have charged a youth support worker with criminal harassment in connection to an incident that took place in Halifax earlier this week.

On Tuesday, police received a report that a victim had received a number of harassing text messages of a sexual nature from an unknown phone number.

Police said they determined that the suspect was a youth support worker at a community-based organization in Halifax.

According to Halifax Regional Police, it’s believed the suspect inappropriately obtained the victim’s contact information from the organization’s system.

Police said they arrested a 51-year-old man on Wednesday, adding he is scheduled to appear in provincial court to face charges including criminal breach of trust, communicating with anyone for the purpose of obtaining sexual services and criminal harassment.
