Well, looks like the young actor made an impression on producers, because last night The Hollywood Reporter reported that Stan, who starred in NBC’s ill-fated Kings series and Gossip Girl, is Marvel’s pick to play Cap’s sidekick, Bucky Barnes. In the comics, Bucky was a teenaged orphan who joined forces with Captain America to fight Nazis. He actually died in their final World War II adventure, but came to life, albeit with memory problems, as political assassin Winter Soldier in 2005. Stan has reportedly signed on for five or six movies, which sounds like a lot until you consider that insiders are saying Evans committed to eight additional movies, including two Captain America sequels, three Avengers movies, and three potential crossover films.

So we’ve got Evans of Human Torch fame as Cap, Stan (clip of him as GG‘s Carter below) as as his little friend Bucky, and Matrix bad guy Hugo Weaving as the lead candidate to play villain Red Skull. How do we like the way casting is shaping up for Captain America, PopWatchers?
