ESPN’s College GameDay Visits Florida State for Second Time this Season

ESPN’s College GameDay Built by The Home Depot – college football’s longest running and most celebrated pregame show – will make a second stop this season in Tallahassee, Fla., for a showdown of the unbeaten, AP-ranked No. 5 Notre Dame (6-0) and No. 2 Florida State (6-0) on Saturday, Oct. 18. The weekly three-hour Emmy Award-winning show (Saturday 9 a.m. – noon) will originate from Langford Green outside of Doak Campbell Stadium.

Hosted by Chris Fowler, the GameDay team consists of analysts Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and David Pollack with reporting by Samantha Ponder, Tom Rinaldi, Scott Van Pelt, George Whitfield and Gene Wojciechowski.

College GameDay Nuggets:

  • This is the third time College GameDay has been to the same school twice in the first eight weeks of the season. Last year, College GameDay was in Clemson for the Georgia (win) and Florida State (loss) games and in 2007, College GameDay was at LSU twice in the first eight weeks for the Virginia Tech (win) and Florida (win) games.
  • This is the 41st regular season Top 5 matchup College GameDay has been at. Of the 34 played at a home stadium, the home teams are 18-16, but just 2-5 in the last seven.
  • Lee Corso is 6-1 in headgear picks in the last seven regular season Top 5 matchups.
  • Including bowls and conference championship games, this is the 66th Top 5 matchup College GameDay has originated from. The lower-ranked team has won four of the last six.
  • This week marks the 11th time College GameDay has been to Tallahassee for a Florida State game; FSU is just 6-4 in the previous ten. Twice Lee Corso has picked FSU’s opponent in Tallahassee – Oklahoma in 2011, Miami in 2001 – he was correct both times.
  • Lee Corso has picked Florida State 18 times. He’s 12-6 when picking the Seminoles and won the last six times.
  • Lee Corso is 7-2 in its last nine week eight headgear picks.
  • This is the 16th time Notre Dame has been involved in a College GameDay location as a true road team. The Irish are 7-8 in the previous 15. The 16 true road appearances are the most by any team.
  • This is the 25th time College GameDay has originated from a Notre Dame game. That ranks  6th on the appearance list behind Florida (34), Ohio State (31), Alabama (30), Florida State (30), Oklahoma (29).
  • Lee Corso is 2-4 in headgear picks when picking Notre Dame and is 8-5 when picking against the Irish. In 2002 in Tallahassee, Lee picked the Seminoles over the Irish and Notre Dame walked out a 34-24 winner.
  • The 13 times Lee has picked against Notre Dame is tied for the most times Lee has picked against a team (Ohio State, Oklahoma also 13).
