Savarna (English: caste Hindus) are considered part of the Hindu varna system. Communities which belong to one of the four varnas i. e. Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Sudra are called "Savarna". In the present-day context, they include all the forward castes and Other backward communities. Dalits and scheduled tribes who do not form part of the Hindu varna system are called Avarna.
Kerala
In Kerala Ezhava, dalit and other scheduled tribes are avarna. It is said that last days savarna kept avarna from many feet. In Kerala savarna kept mannan from 12 feet, Pulaya from 18 feet, Velan from 54 feet and Ezhava from 108 feet.
