The '''Fosi''' were a [[Germanic peoples|Germanic tribe]]. [[Tacitus]], in his ''[[Germania (Tacitus)|Germania]]'' mentions them as being neighbours of the [[Cherusci]], and they suffered alongside the Cherusci in their downfall.<ref name=":0">{{Cite book|title=Readings in Medieval History, Volume I: The Early Middle Ages, Fifth Edition|last=Geary|first=Patrick|publisher=University of Toronto Press|year=2016|isbn=9781442634336|location=Toronto|pages=66}}</ref> He also noted that before their mutual downfall, the Fosi were less prosperous than the Cherusci.{{sfn|Tacitus ''Ger.'' 36}} The two tribes, however, had been dependents in their prosperity, so they shared that same adversity on equal terms during their decline.<ref name=":0" /> The etymological origin of the name Fosi is not known with certainty.
