352nd Infantry Division: Difference between revisions

The 352nd Infantry Division had moved forwards from its reserve position around St Lo and on the 19th March 1944 hadtook movedresponsibility intofor the positionsareas previously occupiedcontrolled by the stretched and[[716th staticStatic 716thInfantry Division, (theWehrmacht)|716th leftStatic halfInfantry ofDivision]], the1 716Battalion sector),of butthe 716th leavingremained in place at the 1stcoastal battalion ofposition (the 726th1/726) regiment,and placedthis nowwas undertransferred to the command of the 352nd Division. A battalion of [[916th Grenadier Regiment]] (II/916) was positionplaced at the Omaha beach, itsalongside 2ndI/726 battalion (as a trade off forand the 726th2nd battalion remainingof inthe position916 at the beach(II/916) was placedtransferred underto the command of the 716 Division, as its Divisional reserve. The [[914th Grenadier Regiment (Wehrmacht)|914th Grenadier RegimenRegiment]]t was stationed to the East of the Omaha sector, just south of [[Point du Hoe]], while [[915th Grenadier Regiment]] with the Divisions Fusilier battalion was held as LXXXIV Corps reserve to the south of Bayeux.
