2024 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships

The 2024 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships (2024 WJHC) was the 48th edition of the Ice Hockey World Junior Championship's top division. It was held from 26 December 2023 to 5 January 2024. This was the seventh time that Sweden has hosted the WJHC, and the first time in Gothenburg. Canada entered the tournament as two-time defending champions. The United States won their sixth championship, defeating host Sweden 6–2 in the gold medal game.

Background

On 14 March 2019 it was announced that Gothenburg would be the host city for 2022.[1] However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, previous World Junior Championships were relocated and it was announced that Edmonton and Red Deer would host the 2022 tournament, and that Gothenburg would be shifted from 2022 to 2024.[2]
