    Problem with media viewer in "mobile view" on mobile devices

    • @Mare44: I am having the same issue on an iPad. The first two work fine and the last three don't. The third one I am able to view by opening the file in a new tab but number 4 and 5 don't want to show up at all. This may be an issue for the village pump. They handle more technical questions regarding Wikipedia. Side note, I was able to view the third image without problems in mobile view on the German Wiki (where it is also displayed). This is the only one of the broken three that worked using that method though. I tried the other two on the Swedish Wiki with no results. --Stabila711 (talk) 14:41, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Help

    Good day, I have a quick question, regardless of the fact it makes me look like a moron. I must have inadvertently clicked on something yesterday, and now when I pull up my editing screen, the handy-dandy characters menu below the edit screen (where you can click on {{ or [[, etc.) is no longer there. Any idea what I did, and how I can correct it? Feel pretty stupid that I can't figure it out myself. Nothing like this has ever happened before. Onel5969 TT me 14:20, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Make sure under the gadgets section the CharInsert box is checked (it is under the Editing subheader).     • The only other thing I can think of is perhaps your browser is messing with your javascript? Do you have an alternative installed that you can try? Did this just start happening after an update of some kind? Beyond that, befuddled is an appropriate word. The people at VPT may be able to help you better.     School song question

    • @RJFJR: According to the WikiProject on schools, the lyrics of a school song should not be included on the school's article.     How to update a French article?

    The French article fr:Viking ADCC is hopelessly out of date. It is still claiming "the ship will replace the Rosella in spring 2010", completely ignorant that spring 2010 was over half a decade ago and no such thing ever happened, in fact now as of 2015, the ADCC still isn't even finished. I'd like to correct it myself but I'm afraid I know too little French. I only ever took one course at university. I can read it, but I'm afraid my skills in writing it aren't up to scratch to write grammatically correct French. What should I do? JIP | Talk 17:13, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Script that changes links on search result page to edit page links

    Category change following boundary change

    When a list of populated places covers those affected by boundary changes, should they be moved from the old category to the new?Johnragla (talk) 06:11, 6 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    I assume you are talking about this? Waikato_District#History, in particular the 1989 reorg? My understanding is that there are categories for both eras, so for instance, if Ngaruawahia was a town that was *not* inside the Waikato_District during the 1980s, it would be in a category something like "New Zealand Towns Inside the Xyz District During the 1980s" ... and, assuming that after the reorg of '89, suddenly Ngaruawahia *is* now inside the Waikato_District, then it would be in categories like "New Zealand Towns Inside the Waikato District During the 1990s" and also "New Zealand Towns Inside the Waikato District During the 2000s" and so on. Note that all the category-names here are made up off-the-cuff, and that I have no idea what district that town actually is/was located within. Does this answer your question, though? Try to make the categories up-to-date, but also keep some kind of historical category, such as 'towns within waikato after 1989' category and 'towns within waikato before 1989' , or whatever makes sense in the given situation. 75.108.94.227 (talk) 16:28, 6 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    No problem, although, not being familiar with the subject-matter, I might still need more clarifications.  :-)    Port Waikato is currently in mainspace as WP:CAT 'Populated places in the Auckland Region' , and Auckland Council exists already. It sounds like you are saying that nowadays, in reality, Port-Waikato-the-place is currently under the jurisdiction of the Waikato Council, and no longer under the jurisdiction of the Auckland Council? If so, my recommendation would be to put Port Waikato into *two* categories, creating them iff necessary: 'Populated places in the Waikato Region', and for historical WP:PRESERVE reasons, also 'Populated places previously in the Auckland Region'.
        Make sense? Alternatively, you could go with the idea of decade-by-decade categories, or arbitrary-but-meaningful-in-real-life timespans, such as maybe 'Populated places in the Waikato Region since 1989' alongside 'Populated places in the Auckland Region prior to 1989' ... though it would depend on how category-crazy you wanted to go. I think that probably just having a set of place-in-region-xyz categories, plus as needed a related set of place-formerly-in-region-xyz categories, would be enough. Body-prose can specify the years when transitions from jurisdiction to jurisdiction occurred. p.s. Also, I'm assuming in my answer that Auckland and Waikato regions&councils are not overlapping... theoretically it could be the case, I suppose, that a particular city was under the jurisdiction of *both* councils simultaneously... if something like that is the case, you might need to be more careful with the category-structure. 75.108.94.227 (talk) 15:24, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Please note Chennai Dost is a major support orgnization fighting for LGBT rights in Chennai, India.

    We are not a commercial firm and in no way we make money out of it. All we do is fight for LGBT rights and create awareness by organizing events like LGBT film festivals, art expos etc.

    Chennai dost is a Non Governmental Organisation which is self funded. That is the board members sponsor the events and for some events we go with the donations.

    Yes, we occasionally organize parties for our members for which we collect money and again the money is only used to organize the upcoming events and the accounts for the same is being shared in our board meetings.

    We request you to restore the page and help us to create the awareness about LGBT to the outer world.

    Venkat, the deletion has nothing to do with whether anyone made money from the organization. I myself would not have deleted this under the A7 reason, as it does claim some importance , but the article was clearly promotional in the sense of advocating for a group and a cause. Wikipedia is not the place for that or for "creating awareness". I will, if you ask, restore this as a draft under the articles for creation project, so that it will need to pass review before going live. DES (talk) 13:23, 6 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Hello, I would like to do, what seemingly, cannot be done.  :-)

    See, nested-footnotes helpdocs. Most of the articles that I work on, use the 'normal' modern style for cites:

    I would like to, on an existing article which uses that normal cite-style, then add (insert) a new citation, as support for some additional factoids.

    How do I do this, so that I can de-duplicate the contents of ref_3_A and the contents of ref_3_B, which are identical save for the portion being quoted? Also, preferably *without* rewriting ALL the footnotes on the page to use {{efn}} or some equivalent syntax that permits nesting? What I would like to be able to do, is something like this:

    • Factoid one.[1] Factoid two.[2] NewFactoid three.[3]{{footquote|...which proves fact#3 is true...}} NewFactoid four.[3]{{footquote|...which proves fact#4 is true...}}

    Does something like this already exist? If not, is making the hypothetical foot-quote template, technically feasible? p.s. In particular, the MAIN advantage of using {{cite web ... |quote=...}} is that the reader can simply hover their mouse over the [4] portion, and see in a javascript-popup the hyperlink to the source, AND the quoted snippet thereof. I am imaging that Template:footquote would let the readership hover over the [3](A) with their mouse, and see a jscript-popup that shows the hyperlinked source when they hover over the [3] and shows the quoted snippet when they hover over the (A) , so that in long articles they don't have to scroll down to read the footnotes, then scroll back up.

      p.p.s. The main problem with using multiple-duplicate-cite-web-refs, differing only in the portion that they |quote= , is that it makes the article look puffed up with "ten" references, numbered 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13 ... when in reality it is just ten distinct quotations from ref#4, backing up various differing factoids.     If your question is truly about contributing to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia – and by "registration" you mean having an article entry here – then blogs are rarely a proper subject for an article as they are rarely notable. They are also rarely useful to use as sources to cite in articles, as they are rarely properly considered reliable sources. Note that Wikipedia is not a proper place to promote or advertize any topic, and especially for a blog you are involved with. As noted above, your question lacks sufficient detail for us to be sure what you are asking, and needs to be expanded if this doesn't answer your question.     On the left hand side of any article, and most pages, you will see various menus. One is labeled "Print/export" and has a link for "Download as PDF".     • You are all set on both problems. You missed the "url=" tag in the ref citation so the template got confused and errored. As to the accent mark, right underneath the edit window is the character insert section.     • There were extra tags on the end of the references that were causing the problem. I fixed the two that were having issues and fixed the section headers so they display correctly (they have to be on their own line).       • The syntax-fix was correct, but IMDB is an anyone-can-edit website, so it isn't suitable for use between ref-tags (even ones with correct formatting). There are three basic problems with IMDB:
        1. although owned by amazon.com , and there is some vague assertion of 'we try hard to have only correct info' , there is no list of editorial staff, and no legal repercussions for errors whatsoever
        2. because anybody can edit, people connected to the film (castmembers or producers or similar) often edit the pages, and with the freemium IMDB 'pro' option, even pay amazon for imagefile-uploading-privs on IMDB
        3. however, although *often* the only people editing the IMDB page are closely connected to the film itself, the website is anybody-can-edit, so the cast/director/producers/studio/etc are not the *only* ones editing.
    In a nutshell, IMDB fails to have a reputation for editorial oversight and fact-checking accuracy, and also fails to be independent of the article-subject, thus fails WP:RS. For much the same reasons, since IMDB is not *solely* under the article-subject's control, it also fails WP:ABOUTSELF -- even the subject's facebook page qualifies for WP:ABOUTSELF in some cases, but IMDB is too much of a wiki-style website-anyone-can-edit, even for that low bar. Ping User:BellJohnT, does this kinda make sense?
       If you want to add information to the page, it needs to be backed up by magazine reviews, newspaper pieces, television newscasts, that sort of thing. IMDB sometimes has vastly more details than can be found in magazines/newspapers/television/etc type of WP:SOURCES, but that is because the members of the band, their talent agent, and their fans can all edit IMDB, which has relatively low selection-criteria, even compared to facebook. Of course, that exception doesn't apply to soundtracks (those are mentioned in the 'disputed uses' section aka the I-wish-these-could-be-used section of the standalone-essay).     Yep, there are some things you can use it for. I'm fairly certain things like the cast list can only be added by those affiliated with the production of a film. In your specific case, I recommend also taking a look at the notability standards for actors that Wikipedia has set. If the actor in question does not meet these standards then unfortunately it is unlikely that your draft will be accepted. In addition, Wikipedia is not for promotional purposes.     Medical article referencing

    I enjoy creating medical articles and using MEDR sources when these sources are available. Unfortunately, there are many conditions, diseases or other topics that I want to write about that are not covered in review articles published within the last five years. In some cases my contributions are deleted or reverted because the references don't meet the guidelines of MEDRs. There are medical topics and conditions which should have articles that can only be written with other, reliable secondary sources, but don't fall within the five-year limit. These would be conditions or diseases that have not been widely researched, widely published and illustrate consensus between the sources - but if the source is from 2009 or earlier, it is considered an unreliable source. I've read every essay that I can find on the topic and every WP guideline. I have over 15,000 edits and this issue is still limiting my article creations. One factor about referencing of medical articles is that if you examine most of the ones that already exist, the references of these older articles don't even come close to meeting the current referencing guidelines. The majority of medical articles are out-of-date or use primary references quite freely. I'm not asking 'permission' to use primary sources, but if there is not an article on a topic and if there has not been a lot of research on the topic, primary sources are sometimes the only sources available. You can upload png files (and text files) to Wikimedia Commons by going to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page, clicking "upload", and filling in the form as appropriate. If you have created them yourself that won't be a problem for Commons. But you will need to specify a license which allows anyone to use them.     I created those png files myself also. The files are not something I should worry about. Nobody will be interested in using them. It is something I've run into doing Fourier Transform. The result of the inverse of the Fourier Transform is not what I expected. I want someone to take a look and perhaps to run this code on their machine.     • upload the PNG files to your own world-visible website
    • upload the GFortran code to the same
    • ask your question at the Computer Desk, and leave the external URL of your (just-uploaded) code-and-images
    • note that, if you do not already have your own world-visible website, you can pick one of these no-cost online services: List of free web hosting services
    Does that make sense? Uploading imagefiles to talkpages like the Computer Desk, is not very easy. You basically have to go through the pain of doing the proper licensing, and fiddling with unrelated stuff. Since you are the copyright-holder, it is POSSIBLE for you to go through the hoops at wikipedia-and-wikipediaCommons, but the EASY way is to just upload externally, since it sounds like you are asking a question about the code (on wikipedia), rather than making a direct contribution of the code (to wikipedia).     Body of Work

    Randy Thornhorn (a.k.a Randy Thornton) is an author of short stories and novels, which includes The Kestrel Waters and its prequel Wicked Temper. Wicked Temper is also a segment of a larger anthology or "novel in stories" entitled Wicked Temper Creation.

    Wicked Temper Creation and many of Thornhorn's other tales depict the characters and events in a mythical lost mountain region in the South, known as "Riddle Top." It is a place where "time is a funny thing" [1] and is infused with Old World Celtic, Germanic, and ancient pagan influences amidst the primitive fundamentalist Christian practices, all of which are heavily depicted.

    It is a region Mr. Thornhorn has been known to say he “visits often and sometimes stays the night.” Other nights, he claims, “he might be found on a wooded hilltop somewhere east of Montgomery in the land of Alabama.” [2]

    Recognition

    His short story, The Hole and Dobber's Head was the longest fiction ever published in Oxford American, when the story debuted in the magazine’s special Southern Gothic Issue (October/November 1996). In the same issue, the editors proclaimed Randy Thornton (a.k.a. Thornhorn) to be “One of the South’s wildest new voices.” [3]

    Oxford American initiated a Listopia list on the massive Goodreads’ literary site under the heading “Oxford American ”Best Southern Novels of All Time.” As of August 2015, both Thornhorn novels The Kestrel Waters and its prequel Wicked Temper had risen to the Top Twenty. [4] Also, on the Goodreads' lists of “Best Southern Gothic Literature,” Kestrel Waters and Wicked Temper have been voted into the Top Ten, voted into fourth place and eighth place respectively (as of September 2015).     The Kestrel Waters was a November 2014 Book-Of-Month pick by the largest online Southern book club, On The Southern Literary Trail (Goodreads), where it received positive reviews from the 995-member group at that time.

    Categorization of Work and Style

    Thornhorn's writings, including his many stories of love and romantic loss, are generally regarded as Southern Gothic in nature. The Kirkus Review of his first novel, Wicked Temper stated: (Thornhorn’s) blend of Southern gothic and hillbilly noir (makes) this story . . . utterly readable, in large part because of Thornhorn’s masterful use of dialect, rich description, and immersive use of atmospherics. The power of this story undeniably comes from the author’s darkly lyrical voice, and his sinister reimagining of Appalachia virtually comes alive on the page: ‘One tiny shack gave way to the next, each shack with its small barren field, desolate dead cornrows littered by blackbirds and autumn leaf.’ (7)

    The Kestrel Waters was reviewed as “Mellifluous, lyrical ... with a darkness that creeps like kudzu.”

    Thornhorn’s style was described by a reviewer “Like the lovechild of William Faulkner and H.P. Lovecraft, Thornhorn, with his unique narrative style and twisted insight into Southern life, makes this novel unforgettable.” (9)

    William Peter Blatty, author of The Exorcist, was one of the first of several contemporary authors who endorsed Thornhorn’s writing, stating “I've come to believe that it is I who should be asking [Randy Thornhorn] for quotes . . . I was haunted throughout by a sense of mystery and otherness. This book is a mesmerizing, wonderfully written and extraordinary work of the imagination . . . Thornhorn, where the hell have you been?(10)

    @Angusjosephwilson: You uploaded commons:File:Ping Portrait.jpg to Wikimedia Commons but the English Wikipedia already has another file with the same name File:Ping Portrait.jpg. That makes it impossible to display a commons file with the name. You have to upload it with another name but I see you discovered that while I was writing.     There are several malware plugins that get installed into web browsers through various means which OP might have picked up somewhere along the way. The plugins work by putting links in on various words and phrases of web pages that don't normally have those links, e.g. a Wikipedia entry. Then when the user hovers over or clicks on the link, they are served an advertisement or sent to another page. I have a feeling that this is what has happened with the OP.     I was tasked with writing a short bio for Gerry Wright (biochemist) - I'm Dr. Wright's communications coordinator - and I'm wondering if it's possible to remove the following caption from the top of the page: "This article is an autobiography or has been extensively edited by the subject or by someone connected to the subject. It may need editing to conform to Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. There may be relevant discussion on the talk page. (August 2015)". I understand it's not as simple as just "removing" it from the page, but any help on how to eliminate it will be really appreciated.

    Hi, I consume the media 'news' on broadcast and Internet sources.

    But, I am cynical at the editing and bias that is probable, for many reasons. Commercialism, fear, NWO, government policy...

    Is there any place on Wiki sites that allows REASONED opinion and analysis of such topics in current event, as the invasion of immigration into the E.U. (i.e. very select countries with the most generous social assistance programmes?). Why is Hungary/Turkey trying to stop that wave of Syrians, really why? Why is this happening now? Who are these people, Sunni, Christian, Kurds, other? Why isn't anyone mentioning Obama's 'fix' of this Civil War a while back via cruise missiles from a Navy battle group off the Lebanese coast? Anyone notice Putin negotiated that gone, and right quick took the Crimean peninsula to his own, without any real objections from the 'free world'? WHY immigration, that is a permanent demographic shift, versus real temporary care of the displaced, and back home they go to the hard work of rebuilding a nation (ala Europe in the 1940-50's_- were Germans to all quit, and all immigrate to Argentina or just the elite get on with life easily...) IS immigration the easy way out? Is this just a North African, Middle Eastern JIHAD through bloodless take-over of another culture? Hasn't France, Sweden, Britain, Germany had enough of the 'religion of peace' within their borders? WHY are these things happening without long term questions being asked, from the recent facts front and centre guiding the 'compassion' of nations, safely. IF you were a homeless or unemployed Brit. what would you think of the offers of housing, education, medical care and open arms to persons who were not born there, and may not pay taxes for a decade or ever (based upon facts of the last 25 years?)? really... This is news, that needs light, not heat. North America IS the destination for many of these poor people. They ought to GO HOME, 'we' end Aussad fast, and rebuild their country... not occupy another, by mass numbers invading it on foot. FACT: 'refugee' camps in Jordan/Lebanon had sanitation, food, water and safety, plus satellite TV in their clean spacious home/shelters... so they drown and suffer, for what? So sad to see a wee lad die and wash up on a beach? Where are the pictures of the dead Christian men, their girls sex slaves, Churches torched in Syria+Iraq+NIgeria??? Empathy NOT yet?     Categorization in taxonomy

    I have raised this question a few times on relevant project talk pages but response appears limited. I would like to know about the categories involving things like "Animals described in [year]", "Fish described in [year]", "Moths described in [year]", etc. since there seem to be quite a lot of articles not categorized into such categories and I would like to know guidelines on what should be categorized as what (as I cannot find a full list of such categories) and if every species (with a given year of description) should be categorized.     The parent category (with several layers of heirarchy by century, decade, year, etc.) is at Category:Species by year of formal description.     That depends a) where the photo is b) what its copyright status is and c) which infobox (Unfortunately infoboxes are not all the same with regards to images)
    If the photo has already been uploaded to Wikimedia:Commons then go to edit the page you want it on and see which infobox is in use, which it will say at the top - e.g. "Infobox school"
    Then go to Template:Infobox school (or Template:whichever infobox it is) and it will explain the parameters to insert. Please note that file names are case sensitive, and need to be entered exactly as the file name.
    If the image is one you took yourself, and is currently on your computer, then click "Upload file" (under Tools in the left hand column) and upload it to Wikimedia Commons, then follow the first section.
    If the image is just one you found on the internet, it almost certainly will be copyright, so can only be used in very exceptional circumstances as a WP:Fair use file - Arjayay (talk) 18:17, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Adding templates to the cite toolbar

    When editing a page there is a lovely toolbar that shows up atop the editing box (screenshot of what I'm talking about). One of the sections is "Cite", and under the templates dropdown it lists 4 templates: {{cite web}}, {{cite news}}, {{cite book}} & {{cite journal}}. Is there a way add another template there? Or is there a way to add to this toolbar as a whole? For example if there are certain things I use a lot, can I edit my CSS to have them show up there?     Promotional photos

    I know it is generally not accepted uploading non-free use images of people, however I've seen plenty of "promotional photos" on various articles. I'm asking specifically about images like this where the markings clearly show that the photo was distributed by the artist and company to promote the band. Although these seem reasonably common, they don't seem to meet criteria in the upload wizard. Are they just a throwback to an earlier time when the criteria was looser? At one time Wikjipedia took the position that since publicity photos were distributed by the copyright owner with the intent of being widely reproduced, they were acceptable to use here. We no longer take that position, and any such photos should either have been qualified under our current fair use criteria, or else deleted.     Problems with images in Wikimedia Commons

    I am having problems after uploading images in Wikimedia Commons. I have uploaded a number of photographs over the years and the majority of these have been deleted even though I have given public domain license. The feedback I have had back is very confusing and is really frustrating. The initial Wizard to upload in Wikimedia Commons photographs is very friendly but editing the copyright information is very unfriendly.     @MrArmstrong2:: When you are making photographies of sculptures and other works of art, the copyright of these works of art applies to the photographies. These are not just your copyright.     The example you have given, a picture of a rabbi with some Hebrew text, appears to be a reproduction of a page of a published book. You have to consider the copyright of that book. I judge from the style of the printing that it was published before 1923 and is therefore in the public domain. But you have not given a publication date, and it may well get deleted from CommonsEnglish Wikipedia as being possibly in breach of copyright. When you fill in the form (which I agree is quite user-hostile), you need to supply the publication date, and state why you believe it is out of copyright.     Timestamp timezones

    Is it possible to get the page history view and editor contribution view to show timestamps in UTC instead of my local timezone? I frequently want to compare an edit timestamp with a signature timestamp (eg to see if an editor's last vandalism was after a certain warning was given); currently, signature timestamps are invariably in UTC while edit history and user contribs timestamps are always shown in my local timezone (currently set to London on my system, which is UTC+1).     @GoldenRing: The used time zone is not determined by your computer but by your setting at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-rendering. And Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets has the option "Change UTC-based times and dates, such as those used in signatures, to be relative to local time."     Is it necessary to replace the 'ü' character in Chinese Phonetic Alphabet(Pinyin) into yu?

    I have seen many Chinese Pinyin contains 'ü' in wikipedia, sometimes in a computer that cannot display it correctly. So is it necessary to replace it into yu(like lü into lyu), like Chinese Guojiabiaozhun(National Standard) GBT 28039-2011?     Page of someone i represent

    I am trying to edit personal details which are being shared on an individuals page that i represent, it is not in the public interest for this information to be shared. Other individuals of the same profession do not have such details shared. There is also the question of security risks for the individuals family which is the reason they have asked for it to be removed.

However the information you have been removing is not mentioned in the source cited in its support, so I have not restored it to the article. Moreover, that source is about a "Shaykh Ibrahim al-Ya`qoubi", and says that he is dead; so I assume it is about a different man anyway. Note that "not in the public interest for this information to be shared" is not regarded in Wikipedia as a reason for not sharing it, but lack of published evidence is so regarded, particularly in articles about a living person.     Thank you, yes there is no issue with that Shaykh Ibrahim al-Yaqoubi, he was Shaykh Muhammad's father and has his own page, he has passed away. I understand a bit more about the whole system now, i think i was naive at first and many of the editors are less then helpful all they do is delete rather then offer advice. So it seems everything accessible on the internet can be put on here, this is good to know for future events. I still don't understand how relevant details can be added when they are in fact important but just not on the internet, for instance a part of Muhammad Al-Yaqoubis career is missing. Same with books, unless they are accessible on the internet but surely the best part of books is that one can hold them rather then download and read of a screen.     Ok great, so I can add the books that have been written as long as I cite the books as a source of information it is fine. I am not sure about his early career if that has been cited in any books I will investigate. In regards to current projects how can I cite that. As in currently he is doing this and this?     Current projects are a little harder. Has anyone written about them? For example, an author may be working on a novel, but until someone else writes that he's working on a novel that information can't be in Wikipedia. However, if he says in an interview, "I'm working on my next novel, it's a love story between a witch and a vampire..." and that interview is published, then that information can go in Wikipedia. In the meantime though, please keep in mind what someone said earlier about your conflict of interest.     Information about a person's current projects can be referenced from their official web site or the like. That said, it should not be promotional in its tone. And again, it would be best if you do not add this info to the article directly since you have a conflict of interest. If you like, you can add it to the talk page for the article and let other editors who are unaffiliated with the subject, yet still watch the page, to make a determination on how/if to add that information to the article. Only facts that can be verified in reliable sources can be included in a Wikipedia article, whether the sources are online or offline. This generally means not blogs, tabloids, or personal web pages, and the like. Reliable sources are ones that have have a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. If the facts are at all controversial, the source should be independent of the subject. (Independent means not his own website or his own published books or comments, or a press release or the like, nor from any source directly associated with the subject, such as a relative or buisness partner.) If the source is offline, include at least enough detail that a reader could find the source, say in a library.     Hi there - I am the marketing manager for Microsoft Movies & TV. I tried to edit the article but it was undone. There is customer confusion over whether we are called Microsoft Movies & TV or Movies & TV.

    The name of the service is called Microsoft Movies & TV, which we explain in the official FAQ: xbox.com/video and the marketing page: microsoft.com/movies-and-tv

    Movies & TV is the name of the Windows 10 playback app of ihch you can also watch your home videos. It is not the name of the video service that was formerly Zune and Xbox Video.

    Can you please remove the redirect from Microsoft Movies & TV to Movies & TV and make the article name Microsoft Movies & TV?

    • Your edit was reverted because there is an ongoing discussion. Wikipedia runs off of community consensus. If the community cannot come to a consensus then there are other avenues that can be taken such as requesting a wider audience. In any case, you working directly on the product means you have a clear conflict of interest. While you can participate in the community discussion on the talk page you should never directly edit the article itself.     • I read through the discussion about the name. One thing that will really really help your cause in that discussion is producing published sources that are independent of the company that use the full name. I.e. not the company's website, marketing materials, etc. and not press releases or articles that largely use press releases as their source. If you can demonstrate that the product is actually known to the world-at-large and actually referred to by the world-at-large as Microsoft Movies & TV, then, per WP:COMMONNAME, that is the correct name of the article.     Wait if theyre the marketing mamager for Microsoft Movies and Tv, their job is managing issues with the brand being out there or whatever and they are clearly editing the name here because that is part of their job and they are paid a salary for that so wouldnt that be considered paid editing?     What language does wikipedia understand?

    I have a little bit of experience in writing in c language. I want to make a good script on my own. In what language should I write a script to make it work on wikipedia?     I'm not clear on what you want to do. Do you mean to edit Wikipedia via use of a bot? If so, see WP:BOT. Bot accounts must be approved since they can really muck things up for many articles in a very short period of time. Or are you trying to trawl through Wikipedia for information for your own use?     Finding my draft article and submitting it.

    Dear Helpers,

     I am new to Wikipedia as far as submitting an article and am really confused. I have written two drafts on the new subject of Maj. Lenox R. Lohr and can't find either of them. I did ask for help and the person who answered said he/she had added a template for a "submit your draft" button and also kindly done a copy-edit. I am not finished with the submission and I cannot access it to make it complete, including sources and click on the submit button. What are the steps I must take?
