Gachapin (ガチャピン) and Mukku (ムック) are a pair of Japanese costumed characters. Gachapin is a bucktoothed green dinosaur, and Mukuu is a red Yeti. Character descriptions

Gachapin has magical "energy balls" on his wrists that grant him courage, while Mukku has a small propeller on the top of his head, similar to a propeller cap.

History

Gachapin joined Twitter in 2009,[1] and for a period of time was the most-followed Japanese Twitter account until he was surpassed by Masayoshi Son in 2011.[2]

In 2018, Gachapin was appointed as an ambassador for Kumamoto Prefecture

Performers

From their first appearance in 1974 until 2014, Gachapin was voiced by Kuniko Amamiya [ja] and Mukku was voiced by Shigeharu Matsuda [ja]. Owing to the age of both actors, both roles were recast in April 2014 with actors whose identities have not been disclosed.[3]
