Gachapin (ガチャピン) and Mukku (ムック) are a pair of Japanese costumed characters. They first appeared in the 1973 Fuji TV children's television program Hirake! Ponkikki , and have appeared in a wide variety of other media. Gachapin is a bucktoothed green dinosaur, while Mukuu is a red Yeti.

Gachapin joined Twitter in 2009,[1] and for a period of time was the most-followed Japanese Twitter account until he was surpassed by Masayoshi Son in 2011.[2]
In 2018, Gachapin was appointed as an ambassador for Kumamoto Prefecture
Performers
From their first appearance in 1974 until 2014, Gachapin was voiced by Kuniko Amamiya and Mukku was voiced by Shigeharu Matsuda . Owing to the age of both actors, both roles were recast in April 2014 with actors whose identities have not been disclosed.[3]
