I'm not an apologist for anyone, but I'd think that "atrocity" would have to include egregious mistreatment like torture. Shooting prisoners is a war crime but not atrocius per se. Disconnecting someones oxygen is murder, but not atrocious IMO. There's one instance of beating someone to death, which is atrocious I guess, but it's a single instance, so "atrocities" plural doesn't fit. 2) no need to split syrian section
