Salote Vuibureta Radrodro is a Fijian politician who currently serves as a member of the Parliament of Fiji.[1] She was elected for the first time in the Fijian general election, 2014, for the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA).[2][3]

Biography

Radrodro's parents were Naibuka and Leba Vuibureta. Her husband is Kitione and she has three sons, and grandchildren. She was educated at Adi Cakobau School.[2]

Before entering parliament, Radrodro had worked for 36 years in the civil service, most recently in the Ministry of Women, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation from which she retired in 2012.[2]

During her maiden speech to parliament she asserted that the fact that she was not allowed to speak in her indigenous language in parliament was a breach of her human rights, and asked "Why can't the Government come up with alternative options like provision of interpreters in chambers which I am sure we are all familiar with from our exposure in meetings overseas?"[2]

She is one of eight women elected to the new 50-member parliament and has said that she hopes they can "work together across parties for the empowerment of other Fijian women".[3]
