History
Launch (2021)
On February 5, 2021, Tom Ascheim stated in an interview with Kidscreen that Cartoon Network would expand its offerings to include series aimed at family audiences, girls, and preschoolers.[2]
On September 1, 2021, WarnerMedia Kids & Family announced ACME Night, a block for Cartoon Network targeting family audiences. The block launched weeks later on September 19, dedicated to family blockbusters and occasionally programs borrowed from TBS and truTV. Programs on the block (including movies like Shazam! and Ready Player One and series like Wipeout) are frequently rated TV-14 and often contain violence, language, and sexual content uncommon for a kids network. The block plans on having original films produced, as well as reruns of upcoming HBO Max series like Batman: Caped Crusader and Unicorn: Warriors Eternal.
