The 2020 Calgary Stampeders season is scheduled to be the 63rd season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 76th overall. The team plans to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the team's inception in 1945.[1]
The Stampeders will attempt to qualify for the playoffs for the 16th straight year and win the ninth Grey Cup championship in franchise history. This season would be Dave Dickenson's fifth season as head coach and John Hufnagel's 13th season as general manager.
Training camps, pre-season games, and regular season games have been postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The CFL announced that the start of the 2020 season would not occur before July 2020.[2]

CFL National Draft
The 2020 CFL National Draft took place on April 30, 2020.[3][4] The Stampeders obtained the first overall pick after completing a trade with the Ottawa Redblacks that saw the teams swap first-round picks and Calgary acquire another third-round pick following the trade and subsequent re-signing of Nick Arbuckle to the Redblacks.[5][6] However, shortly after the draft began, the Stampeders then traded the first and 15th overall picks to the BC Lions for the third and 12th overall picks.[7]
The Stampeders also traded their fifth-round selection and Justin Renfrow to BC in exchange for a fourth-round pick in this year's draft and a negotiation list player.[8]

CFL Global Draft
The 2020 CFL Global Draft was scheduled to take place on April 16, 2020.[9] However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this draft and its accompanying combine were postponed to occur just before the start of training camp, which was also postponed.[2][10] The Stampeders will select sixth in each round with the number of rounds still to be announced.[9]
