Flood denies guilt

LOS ANOELES (AP) - Rep. Daniel .1, Flood, D-Pa., pleaded innocent to three charges of perjury involving alleged payoffs and his attorney asked to have the trial moved to the East Coast to cut down on Flood’s traveling expenses. At Monday’s hearing, U.S. District Judge Malcolm Lucas rejected arguments by defense attorney Axel Kleiboemer, who said more time was needed to prepare for such a complicated case. The 74-year-old congressman's lawyer said he would seek a change of venue to the East Coast because Flood “is not a wealthy man” and would suffer a hardship because of trav el costs for himself, attorneys and witnesses.
