The series includes extensive information related to economy, politics, culture, ecology, security and social issues in Bulgaria mostly in the period from 1990 to 1997. Of particular interest are the files on mass media, including RFE/RL activities, environment and nuclear power, minorities and and nationalism. The files cover developments in the economy and state building in the transition period with special focus on human rights, international organizations and activities of different parties, political movements and organizations in Bulgaria after the collapse of communist regime.
Some of the material dates back to the earlier period as parts of them were transferred from the RFE/RL Research Institute East European Archives to support the activity of the newly organized institution in Prague.
The series contains news agency releases, excerpts of RFE/RL Research Reports, transcripts of monitoring of the Bulgarian National Radio and Television, newspaper clippings and copies of articles from scientific publications.
