The New SOG Provider FX is the latest offering from SOG Knives in the fixed blade category. The Provider FX offers a balance of durability, sleek design, and overall size to give you a knife that can handle camping duty, self-defense, or even help you start processing your filled tags this fall. The new blade features a 3.75-inch 154CM steel blade for a balance of corrosion resistance, blade hardness, and ease of sharpening.

When Springfield released their two new long-barreled Hellions, they posted on their own blog a review of these rifles. In that review, the writer mentioned and showed pictures of a Hellion bayonet for the 20″ barreled Springfield Hellion. Well, it is available now.

The year 2020 not only brought us the Covid pandemic and unprecedented instability, but it also graced us with the ever-divisive Kukrax, a kukri-axe hybrid. Last year Pearson Industries, the company behind it, announced a couple of more traditional knives, and now they are finally available, as Kukrax Wildland Knives.

As with all other things, a high-quality knife usually comes with a high price tag. Your sub-$30 Big 5 sale knife will still cut, but not as sharply as the corners cut when it comes to durability, steel quality, and handle materials. Cold Steel has been a big name in the knife world for a long time, and their trusted name garners prices of at least a bill. To make their knives more attainable, or at least make you cry less when you beat them up, Cold Steel has introduced their Pro Lite series, made up of three new folders.

Cold Steel has just announced the addition of a new lightweight and affordable EDC folder line of knives. The new Verdict series of EDC folders feature several different color variations of the GFN handle, a 3-inch stainless steel blade, and the Cold Steel Tri-Ad lock system. In addition to these standard features, the Verdict will be available in several different popular point styles – all without serrations.

Langdon Tactical Technology is proud to announce a partnership with ShivWorks to offer Ernest Langdon’s personal choice for EDC knives – the ShivWorks Clinch Pick 2.0. Fans of our YouTube channel will know that several TFB staff including TFBTV Executive Producer James Reeves often carry the Amtac Gear Northman fixed EDC blade. Amtac is well known for making some best flat ground cutting tools suitable for everything from opening boxes to defending yourself in a situation where a gun might not be the best choice. The new NorthmanX isn’t available yet but Amtac Blades has released a teaser for the new blade which should start shipping sometime in November of this year.

Zero Tolerance makes some of my favorite blades. With everything from more affordable pocket-sized EDC folders to some of their more expensive flippers and assisted open knives, the Zero Tolerance name is well known within the tactical and blade community for its high-quality knives featuring great designs and legendary aesthetics. Zero Tolerance has just announced their latest offering in their Factory Special Series with the release of the 0460RDBW trailing point blade.

Cold Steel has just announced the release of a new and limited edition folding blade bearing the name and signature of Cold Steel Chief Instructor and President Lynn Thompson. The new Spartan Folder blade is a 4.5″ stainless steel fully serrated blade that takes elements from popular blade designs like the Kukri and is combined with a full-sized grip, and quality knife steel to provide collectors and knife nerds with a functional and collectible folding blade.

Ed Brown has introduced the new First Responder Tool. The 3.5-inch sheepsfoot blade comes slightly serrated and is secured by an ABLE lock, enabling a quick and simple deployment. There is a strap cutter blade that can be deployed with one thumb as well as a glass breaker. It also features a reversible deep pocket clip that allows tip-up carry.

Intended primarily as an outdoor/survival knife, the full-size folding blades feature CMP-D2 (60-62 HRC) blade steel and a durable steel handle. Benchmade also markets this knife as a good option for self-defense.

Fällkniven AB is a family-owned company from northern Sweden, located close to the arctic circle. The name means “folding knife” and the business was founded in 1984. In 1987 they started developing their own knives. Their G1 Garm Fighter knife was first released in 2001 and sold until the end of 2015. The company is now reintroducing this knife.

Hollywood has at best what I would call a tenuous relationship with the firearms industry. Much of the content that Hollywood puts out is often the inspiration for many potential young gun owners even if it’s not the intent. When I was a child, I distinctly remember wanting to have guns from specific movies like Terminator 2, Heat, and The Way of the Gun, just to name a few. However, despite the popularity of firearms on the silver screen, the attitude within the walls of many production studios and corporate board rooms remains negative towards guns as well as knives. Fixed blade knives seem to be back in vogue these days and I think that’s a good thing. If you’re an EDC or pocket knife junkie then there is a new blade in town. The guys over at Tyrant Designs CNC have just announced their official presale for the new Tyrant Designs CNC (TDC) 001 and 002 knives. The new knives will both feature a 3-inch D2 tanto-point steel blade and what Tyrant Designs calls “beefy” linear locks with easy-to-use thumb studs. From what I can tell so far, the blades look to be quite stylish and have that telltale Tyrant Designs look to them with very angular shapes and flashy anodized highlights.
