It's been a long time since it snowed in Louisiana, but there's no shortage of "sno" here.

Baton Rouge has found some creative ways to stay cool during the ever-hotter summer months. The tastiest of all? Sno-balls.

Sno-balls are shaved ice in a cone, covered in whatever sweet, sour or fruity syrup combinations your heart desires. The flavors, toppings and consistency of the ice varies between stands but are guaranteed to help you chill out.

These two new sno-ball spots bring a new meaning to the sweet treat with their one-of-a-kind mixes and delicious ways to fight off the heat.

1808 Sneaux

Owner Gabrielle McKellar serves classic Louisiana snoballs at 1808 Sneaux along Perkins Road Monday, June 10, 2024.

1808 Sneaux

This old gas station turned sno-ball stand has been making buzz in the Perkins Road area. Named after its address on the road, 1808 Sneaux has 55 flavors spanning from classic Cherry to Marshall's Cappuccino. Toppings and extras include marshmallow fluff, caramel syrup, ice cream stuffing and more.

There's also a few 21+ options that have an "adult infusion" added to flavors like Jim's Jungle Juice or Moses's Margarita.

The menu at 1808 Sneaux features owner Gabrielle McKellar's family members, loved ones and business contributors and inspiration for the name of her flavors.

Owner Gabrielle McKellar shared her journey on social media of transforming this abandoned space into a sno-ball stand. Since the grand opening on May 4, this stand has been a hot spot for the Baton Rouge community to go cool down.

There's yellow picnic tables for cute seating to enjoy a treat with your family or pets. Oh yes, the space is pet friendly and has Pupcones. Staff decorates the cups with colorful drawings, adding another level of fun to the experience.

Kids are encouraged to make their own colorful drawings with chalk on the sidewalk.

Prices start at $5 for a small, $6 for a medium, $7 for a large and $10 for the 1808 mega-size, plus the cost of any add-ons. The stand is open every day from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Roul's Deli

Yes, the second sno-ball space is a deli. Roul's Deli is opening a sno-ball stand right outside their O'Neal Lane location in Baton Rouge.

They've teased a few of their upcoming options on Instagram. Indulge your inner child with "Candy Land," blue raspberry flavored ice with Very Berry Nerds Gummy Clusters, Air Heads Xtremes bites and gummy worms on top. Enjoy fresh fruity options with a strawberry shortcake flavor with condensed milk and whipped cream or a banana pudding-topped flavor.

They have 16 regular flavors including fan favorites like Tigers Blood and Wedding Cake. They also offer sugar-free, dye-free clear flavors, and mouth-wateringly sour flavors. Prices range from $2 to $5, plus special flavors with a small upcharge.

Sno-balls aren't the only thing they're offering. They will also serve Mexican fruit cups. These cups can have different fruit in them but their pick of watermelon, pineapple, mango and cucumber covered in a homemade Chamoy sauce, topped with tajin is the perfect mix of refreshing and flavorful.

Stay tuned to the stand's June 14 opening to see the rest of the flavors and be one of the first people to try it.
