Yes, if you aren't on our broadband network but you have at least one eligible Telstra service, you'll have full access to all Telstra TV features - but you will need a Telstra ID to activate the device. Here's how to get a Telstra ID.
Telstra TV lets you watch and control all of your entertainment - including the big streaming subscription apps, free-to-air and catch up TV, sport, music and movies - without changing HDMI inputs or remotes on your TV. The Telstra TV Voice-enabled remote lets you search for and play shows using your voice.

With Telstra TV you can discover content from the home screen, without having to open individual apps. The device remembers your usage, and provides recommendations for what to watch next.
Telstra TV has Australia’s only search function that allows you to easily search for titles, people or genres across Live TV, the 5 Catch up TV apps, Telstra TV Box Office, Foxtel Now, BINGE, Netflix, Stan, Amazon Prime Video, Hayu, BritBox, AnimeLab and DocPlay.
Telstra TV is automatically updated for no extra charge, so you always have the newest content providers, app versions and software features without needing to buy or upgrade.
Telstra TV makes it easy to sign up to some of your favourite applications, with your details pre-populated. You can add Foxtel Now, Netflix and Kayo subscriptions, as well as Telstra TV Box Office transactions, to your Telstra Bill.
With the Telstra TV app on your mobile you can easily find content you love, save it to watch later, create wish lists, or use your mobile as a second remote at home. Plus, with private listening you can use your mobile device and headphones to listen to the audio on Telstra TV at home.

Before you gift or sell your old Telstra TV to a friend you must perform a factory reset – this will help to ensure that your log-ins to your existing subscriptions are wiped from the device. If you don’t do this, it means that the person receiving your Telstra TV won’t need to enter new log in-details, so they will be able to access the existing subscriptions you are paying for. Without a factory reset, they may also be able to make additional purchases – but you’ll continue to be charged for them.
To perform a factory reset of your Telstra TV device:
If you have sold or gifted your Telstra TV device but forgot to factory reset the device, you should change the passwords of the subscriptions you accessed on your Telstra TV immediately. You can find instructions on how to reset passwords on our Help & Support pages. If you have lost or had your Telstra TV stolen please contact us. We can remotely disable lost or stolen devices.
If you purchased your TTV on a device repayment plan and cancel early, you will be charged an early termination fee.
This process is standard across Telstra and applies to most consumer devices and hardware products.
Telstra TV Box Office allows you to rent or purchase movies and tv shows via your Telstra TV and other compatible devices. If you don’t remember purchasing or renting content via Telstra TV Box Office, check with anyone who has direct access to your Telstra TV if they made the rental or purchase. You can also remotely log out of all devices you’ve previously used Telstra TV Box Office on, by logging into the Telstra TV Box Office website and going to Settings > Devices > Log out of all Devices.
If you use pre-paid or post-paid billing the charges for individual transactions will be on your Telstra bill but your bank, credit card or other payment provider may not show the charges as individually itemised transactions.
If you use post-paid billing your Telstra bill is generally generated monthly and shows all the charges accrued in the month. In these cases the Box Office transactions will be added to the bill and then the total is charged.
If you use pre-paid billing you may have purchased credits which are being used for transactions. In these cases your payment method will show the credits purchased, not the an itemised charge per box office transaction.
You can see your full transaction history in the Telstra TV App’s and on our website. It is in Settings and under the Payments section. When we process a Telstra TV Box Office transaction, we also email a tax invoice for each one to your email address and this shows the title, date and the payment method used.

These speeds exceed the capabilities of some content servers and personal computers. Average speeds will be lower and actual speeds a single user will get will vary due to a number of factors including customer hardware, equipment and software, server limitations, type of content being accessed and a number of users online. Devices connected by Wi-Fi may experience slower speeds than those connected by Ethernet cable.
In areas serviced by nbn co, Telstra may be required to connect services onto the nbn network. If you’re in a new development and not already connected to the nbn network, nbn co may charge $300 to connect your premises to the nbn network. If applicable, we will bill that charge to you. Once you are connected to nbn fibre, you won’t be able to move to our copper network. Extra charges may apply for non-standard or professional install of Telstra or nbn co equipment and for premises in new developments.
