11:05 a.m. 2018 Midterm Elections Result in Firsts
There were many firsts leading up to the 2018 midterm elections, and results have proved that its one for the record books. Related: How the 2018 midterms made history: A look at election night firsts
- More women will serve in Congress than ever before, with at least 113 set to fill seats after Tuesday's election. Related: These women made history on election night
- At age 29, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has become the youngest woman elected to Congress. Related: Democrats take House, Republicans hold Senate in historic midterm elections
- Rashida Tlaib and IIhan Omar just became the first Muslim women elected to Congress. Related: Democrats take House, Republicans hold Senate in historic midterm elections

10:18 a.m. Sen. Bill Nelson Calls for Recount in Florida Senate Race
As of early Wednesday morning, only 34,537 votes separated Gov. Rick Scott from incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson in the race for the seat in Congress. Now, Nelson's office said Florida's U.S. Senate race is headed toward a recount based on the razor-thin margin of 0.43. Related:
10:06 a.m. Stocks Jump After Midterm Vote
U.S. stocks opened sharply higher Wednesday after the midterm elections resulted in a divided Congress. The Dow Jones industrial average was up more than 200 points in early trading. 7:39 a.m. President Trump to Hold News Conference
President Trump will hold a post-election news conference at 11:30 a.m. Monday.
The Georgia race for governor between Republican Brian Kemp and Democrat Stacey Abrams has been one of the most-closely watched gubernatorial contests in the 2018 midterm elections. So who won? As of 7 a.m. Wednesday, we still don't know. And, while Kemp holds the lead, Abrams said she wouldn't concede the race.
Democrats won control of the House Tuesday night, while Republicans held their Senate majority as voters rendered a mixed verdict in the first nationwide election of Donald Trump's turbulent presidency.

9:42 p.m. Republican Henry McMaster Wins SC Governor's Race

9:00 p.m. Incumbent US Reps. James Clyburn, Jeff Duncan Win SC Races
8:10 p.m. Virginia First Major Win for Democrats

8:07 p.m. Sen. Bernie Sanders Wins Re-Election
One of the first races to be called was Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., winning re-election as expected. Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., also won re-election. Also in Virginia, Democrat Jennifer Wexton defeated Republican incumbent Barbara Comstock in the 10th Congressional District. 12:30 p.m. Voting Problems Reported Across the Country
Voters across the country are reporting long lines and voting problems against a backdrop of concern that the election process might be vulnerable to hacking or tampering. By 11:30 a.m. EST, a national hotline for problems at the polls already had fielded 10,000 calls. They included reports from voters and volunteers in Georgia, Arizona, New York, Michigan and Texas. Several candidates are beginning to share pictures of them voting Tuesday morning. Governor Henry McMaster's running mate, Lieutenant Governor candidate Pamela Evette, and Attorney General Alan Wilson have tweeted pictures of them voting.

Richland County officials say technicians are working to recalibrate voting machines after reports that votes were being cast for the opposite party than the one selected on ballots Tuesday morning. Richland County Elections Director Rokey Suleman told News 19 that other malfunctions involved flashcards, cords and non-functioning outlets.
