The Department of Health has said a number of measures have been taken to control the spread of Covid-19 at Dealgan House in Dundalk, Co Louth.
In a letter to local TDs the department confirmed that the outbreak had been brought under control and is being monitored on a daily basis.
The facility confirmed last week that 23 people in its care had died.
The statement said many of the deaths were Covid-19 related.
The department said all residents are now nursed in single rooms, cleaning standards have been increased and personal protective equipment is readily available to staff.
It said comprehensive testing of all workers and residents has now taken place and staff at the nursing home who have tested positive for the virus have taken appropriate isolation precautions.
The nursing home remains closed to admissions and this continues to be reviewed as staffing levels required for reopening are expected to be met by the end of the month.
Dealgan House is one of the nursing homes hardest hit by Covid-19.
Earlier this week some families of residents who died called for an investigation into the outbreak.
