It has been confirmed that five residents in a north Mayo nursing home have died as a result of Covid-19.
They were among seven people who have died at the Tí Aire home outside Belmullet, since the beginning of the month.
Another resident is being treated in hospital, after testing positive for the coronavirus.
A number of other residents, who have also tested positive for Covid-19, are being cared for in the nursing home.
Tí Aire manager John Tighe said everyone at the facility was heartbroken by the deaths.
He said extensive infection control measures had been put in place, in advance of any cases being confirmed.
A total of 36 residents have been tested for the coronavirus in recent days and staff testing is ongoing.
While some results are still awaited, a number of residents have already tested positive. The home said it is "supporting them through their recovery".
Mr Tighe said the facility had received additional supplies of Personal Protective Equipment several weeks ago and was satisfied with the quantity and quality of the material provided.
Local Sinn Féin TD Rose Conway Walsh said the deaths had led to huge concerns locally in recent days.
She said the community needed to be assured that every possible action was being taken to minimise the spread of the infection, in order to keep residents and staff safe.
