I believe counseling begins with a genuine, honest relationship.
It may be that your ADHD, anxiety or depression is in control of your life and making it difficult to complete simple tasks during the day. Your relationships don’t seem to work out. You lose control of your anger, driving others away, ultimately leaving you full of shame and alone. Or you have harmful emotions and/or behaviors that are running your life. I work exclusively with men to help them address the issues unique to them in order to achieve emotional maturity and lead full lives. I am also passionate about fly fishing, woodworking, and spending time with family and friends.

Research shows that the client-therapist relationship is the biggest factor in therapeutic outcomes.
Hi there! How are you doing? I mean, truly: how are you doing? I want to hear about your health, your interests, your relationships, your worries, your joys, and your sorrows. I want to hold space for all the things you really want to say when you reply, “I’m fine, how are you?” Whether you seek therapy for a specific problem or you just want a pocket of time to untangle some thoughts/feelings/experiences, you are welcome here.

A strong therapeutic relationship can provide the context for transformative healing and growth. I work well with people who have experienced trauma or deprivation in their early experience and who desire healing from those events, as well as those who feel stuck in unhealthy patterns of behavior. Since many chronic issues contain elements of earlier experiences, our work together may include increasing your awareness about how your past is at work in the present, reducing its ability to dictate your responses and choices, and letting go of defensive strategies that worked in the past but are not serving you now.

My clients are trans, non-binary, and queer people who have experienced trauma, survived gender-based harm, or not felt accepted in a vital relationship, often with a caregiver or partner. Sometimes they are healing from a relationship that was clearly traumatic: an abusive partner or violent parent. Other times, childhood just felt confusing, lonely, or hard. Some clients have started to wonder if the relationship they're in is a little bit toxic. And some simply hold an identity that others feel entitled to invalidate, deny, or oppress. But almost always, the relationship that hurt is also one that promised love and security.

I believe engaging in the psychotherapy process is a courageous step in your efforts toward growth and healing. I approach psychotherapy as a unique kind of learning process, facilitated by a collaborative therapeutic relationship and a safe, confidential environment. My role is to be a listener, facilitator, teacher and advocate. Therapy should be a comfortable, non-judgmental space where you are free to bring all of your thoughts and feelings, even those parts we all have that feel awkward or uncomfortable. If you are ready to heal from past trauma, feeling stuck in relationships or creatively, or just trying to figure out what comes next in your life, we can go at a pace that feels right for you. Often people who have been through hard things have found ways to cope and survive that no longer feel helpful. Therapy is a place to connect with coping strategies, self-care practices, and relationship dynamics that feel personally fulfilling and sustainable.

Attention to the ENERGY of your relationship with self and others to be intentional in becoming who you want to be, creating the life you deserve.
Whether you are navigating life’s challenges or juggling life’s blessings, if life is imbalanced, both can feel overwhelming. It's important to declutter our lives to make room for growth and what matters most to you. Between the expectations we put on ourselves and those put on us, deciphering between the two can be challenging. This often leads to our feeling anxious, depressed or stuck. Achieving balance may be mapping out future goals, setting boundaries, mending relationships or simply needing a sounding board. Imagine waking daily to a life where you get to decide. It is the most liberating and balanced of all.

I specialize in working with adolescents, adults, and couples dealing with a range of issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, self-esteem, life transitions, trauma, PTSD, and grief and loss.
As a therapist, I work with people who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or looking to make some sort of change (in life, relationships, unhealthy habits or behaviors, etc.). I work primarily from a relational-cultural approach, which means that my focus is on the therapeutic relationship, authenticity, and perhaps most importantly, collaboration. Content related to the past, present, and future are each considered to be sources of valuable information, as are thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I value creativity and a sense of humor in my work with clients; your experience is yours alone and as such, your treatment will be individually tailored to your needs.

When working with couples and families, we explore past experiences and current relationship dynamics that lead to conflict and feelings of disconnection.
Therapy for individuals, couple, and families. There are times when life is painful and seemingly without answers, yet what seems most broken in us can be a channel for growth, even a source of strength we never knew was possible. My own healing through therapy and mindfulness meditation inspired me to pursue an MA in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco -- the first program in the world to blend Eastern philosophical and spiritual traditions with Western schools of psychology. Today, I feel honored to support others on their journey toward healing.

Together, we can partner to develop a secure therapeutic relationship, set goals, and implement lasting, hope-filled change.
In all my relationships, including and especially with my clients in therapy, I seek to operate from a place of curiosity and compassion. As vulnerable and painful as it can be to dismantle old patterns, it is even more rewarding to see clients establish new, more functional ways of being (relationally, emotionally, cognitively, physically, and spiritually). My goal is to provide a safe space to collaborate and walk alongside clients as they seek to heal, grow, and change into more of the person they want to be.

The therapist/client relationship is the most important to me and I would love to help you.
Therapy is not "one size fits all". Each person comes to therapy with a unique story that has led them to be the person they are today. I believe each person makes sense in the context of everything they've been through. Helping people understand their triggers and negative thought patterns can promote healing within themselves and personal relationships. I use a systemic approach, looking at past relationships and trauma that might be coming up in your life today. We are often unaware of how impactful these dynamics were.

Clients come to me looking for a therapist who can help them heal their relationships with their families, set boundaries to protect themselves, and/or explore their relationship with God and Christianity.
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community in today's world, you’re constantly wondering whether you are in a safe place to be your authentic self. Perhaps you've been hurt by your parents, the Church, and people who were supposed to love you unconditionally, simply because of your sexuality or pronouns. You don’t want to lose these relationships, but you also know that something needs to change. Whether you're exploring your sexuality or gender identity for the first time, or came out a long time ago but are struggling due to unsupportive family, friends, or your own self-doubts, there IS a path forward to live freely and happily.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
