Art deco gas station

the local vinatge gas station has been preserved and now is used as a museum and tourist welcome center. This station is located near the important transportation intersection of highway US 41A before the ascent to Sewanee and the CSX train line before it begins its ascent to the Cumberland Mtn Tunnel. The station still has three gas pumps, one for sky cheif and 2 for fire chief. In the service station, the museum has a 1936 Ford and a 1950 Ford Cowan has also preserved one of it's old fire…

I took a couple pictures tonight of my gas station at night. Almost done with the restoration and finished the gilbarco pump today.

Its a pity I dawdled on the way to Cambridge, Il to catch this old station in better light. I was still 30 minutes too late. On the upside, there is a building permit on the door and obvious work going on inside. I hope they retain the Deco flair this old structure has,

We started out at Haines Shoe House! The best place to start a kitsch filled road trip and what girl doesn't like shoes?? Unfortunately for us, the shoe house was closed. :( So, no ice cream or tour.
