This is the parking area where you can car camp. Despite several internet posts touting about there being fire rings, you are not allowed to have a fire there. We stopped into the Forest Rangers station in Bishop and they said that you can only have fires at the Grand View campground, about 45 minutes drive from the Bancroft gate (2016-07-24).
