List Description

The Crown of Polish Mountains was presented in 1997 by Marek Więckowski and Wojciech Lewandowski in the tourist magazine "Know Your Country" ("Poznaj swój kraj"), and then officially established by the Conquerors' Club of the Crown of Polish Mountains (Klub Zdobywców Korony Gór Polski). In its original form, the list consists of the highest peaks of 28 mountain ranges in Poland.

This list, however, creates a lot of controversy due to the determination of the highest peaks on the basis of old measurements from the first half of the 20th century. Today's new geodetic surveying techniques have made it possible to redetermine heights in terrain, while at the same time establishing new highest peaks.

The list presented on Peakbagger.com shows the highest peaks of 28 mountain ranges of Poland based on the latest measurements presented in 2020 by Krystian Kozioł and Kamil Maciuk (AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow). In addition, the list has been supplemented with two mountain ranges previously omitted in the original version – Western Tatra Mountains and Sanocko-Turczańskie Mountains.
