Peak #4 of the day. Due to the fact that the summit is "closed" the trail is a bit vague in spots. Convinced that the only reason there is the controversy and closure is some miscontrued idea of liability risk, we followed the "roads" to the the summit plateau and then proceeded over to the high point. The bigger risk on this mountain was the descent. The trail is cut into the steep, scree covered side and then head out over a rocky outcropping where approach shoes might have been a better choice than hiking boots. Just as we were getting down into the valley it started to rain so I ran ahead to get the tent down (that we never used the night before). |
