Did the Old Baldy trail as there isn’t any snow in the bowl for climbing. I used microspikes for a bit on the approach to Baldy Saddle but was too lazy to put them on for the descent. The trail is in excellent shape and very easy to follow.
I had the summit to myself for a few minutes before sharing it with a couple nice fellows. Excellent panoramic view and not too windy. On the way down I saw 100+ people coming up, most of them ludicrously decked out with mountaineering boots, crampons, ice axe, etc. As a visitor from BC, I’m grateful for the recent beta I got from the local community on Facebook or I might have brought all that training weight with me today too.
