Overnight at Helen Lake got up early and started up at 1:30 to beat the crowds. Friend turned back at the base of Misery Hill due to altitude sickness. First to the summit but unfortunately missed the sunrise by a matter of minutes. Passed what seemed like 100 climbers on the way back down, the snow in the gulch around 7 am was firm (not bulletproof) and an absolute no fall zone. |
