English Español Cepsa appoints Maarten Wetselaar as new CEO

He will be in charge of accelerating the company’s energy transition strategy starting on the 1st of January of 2022.

Cepsa appointed Maarten Wetselaar as new Chief Executive Officer of the company starting on the 1st of January 2022. He will replace Philippe Boisseau in the position, who will serve as advisor to the CEO and the Board of Directors after two years in the company. Wetselaar has more than 25 years in the industry and is recognized for his experience in the Energetic Transition field.

Maarten Wetselaar currently serves as Integrated Gas & New Energies Director and member of the Executive Committee of Royal Dutch Shell. He is responsible for Shell’s integrated gas business, a top player in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) and gas to liquids (GTL) industry, as well as leading the renewable energies business. Starting next year, he will be in charge of accelerating Cepsa's energy transition strategy.

Cepsa’s President, Ahmed Yahia Al Idrissi, commented: “His knowledge and vast experience will be of immeasurable value for the company in order to accelerate, based on an excellent performance in 2021, the implementation of the energy transition strategy to offer our clients and and partners more differentiated and sustainable energetic solutions”.

Cepsa has a network of 1,504 gas stations in Spain in addition to stations in Portugal.
