This document discusses better collaboration between agencies and clients. It notes that historically, agencies did not provide clients with a full understanding of the creative process or ideas, and clients did not know how to properly evaluate work. It advocates that agencies start presentations with the agreed upon creative brief to provide necessary context before presenting ideas. Agencies should tell a story that bridges the brief to the final idea, giving clients a complete understanding. The document also provides models for properly evaluating ideas and ensuring collaborative discussions between agencies and clients.

This document provides tips for landing a first customer. It advises starting by offering potential customers a simple, free piece of help related to the problem being solved rather than immediately introducing the product or service. This builds trust by showing understanding of their complex needs. The next step is to listen to learn about their situation and solutions tried before leveling with them about options considered. The goal is for the customer and business to collaboratively develop a solution, with the business explaining what their product can and cannot do. Introducing the product fully only after understanding the customer's needs and determining if trust has been built.

If you are like many people, even the thought of delivering a speech in front of an audience will get your palms sweating. The fear of public speaking ranks high among the most common phobias, and for good reason: most of us approach the situation with the wrong mindset, which in turn makes us live out our worst fears in a public forum.
As Michael Parker notes in IT’S NOT WHAT YOU SAY: How to Sell Your Message When It Matters Most (A TarcherPerigee paperback; on sale January 2016), our fixation on the content of our words – and not the presentation of ourselves – is what brings us down. Once the Vice-Chairman of London’s Saatchi & Saatchi, and one of the world’s most experienced advertising pitch men, having made more than 1,000 pitches in his successful career, Parker has learned first-hand that an effective presentation, a job interview, or even a speech at a wedding hinges on our ability to portray ourselves as passionate, relatable, and collected. But, if we are focused on what we say, and not how we act, we will fail to persuade our audience.
Applied in the boardroom, at the pulpit, or even in conversation, these tenets will help you present better in any situation.
Pitching Ideas: How to sell your ideas to othersJeroen van Geel
Learn how to convince others of your UX ideas by understanding them.
We are good in designing usable and engaging products and services. We understand the user's needs and have a toolkit with dozens of deliverables. But for some reason it remains difficult to sell an idea or concept to team members, managers or clients. After this session that problem will be solved!
Selling your ideas and convincing others is one of the most undervalued assets in our field. This ranges from convincing a colleague to use a certain design pattern to selling research to your boss and convincing a client to go for your concept. You can come up with the best ideas in the world, but if it is presented in the wrong way these ideas will die a lonely dead. This is sad, because everybody can learn how to bring a message across. The main thing is that you know what to pay attention to.
In this session I will take you on a journey through the world of presenting ideas. We will move through the heads of clients and your colleagues, learn what their thoughts and needs are. We will move to the core of your idea and into the world of psychology.
Inspired Storytelling: Engaging People & Moving Them To ActionKelsey Ruger
Most projects, presentations or initiatives are driven by facts and features the team believes will help them deliver a product or message. While facts and data are important for setting the stage and communicating goals, they’re rarely what persuades an audience or gets them to take action.
In this workshop, you will learn how to use that connection, by teaching basic skills in visual thinking and storytelling that will that transform projects and initiate action.

BlaBlaCar is a long distance car sharing community, connecting drivers with empty seats and people looking for a ride. Our website and mobile apps allow drivers to publish a planned journey. Passengers can then search available offers, and get in touch with the driver of their choice.
We provide a range of features to create a secure, reliable, trust-based community and easy connections between drivers and passengers. For instance, members specify how chatty they are on the scale “Bla”, “BlaBla” and “BlaBlaBla”, hence the name BlaBlaCar. Members rate one another after travelling together, allowing them to build trusted reputations in the community, and contact details are verified.
BlaBlaCar is currently used by more than 500,000 people every month across Europe. The community, already numbering 2.5 million members, has been growing rapidly since 2009, in great part due to rising fuel costs and expensive rail fares.

Examples mentioned include crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter, local marketplaces like Etsy, and communities formed around sharing items, skills and physical spaces. The document argues this shift represents more than a fad and will continue transforming economic and social systems.

You and I have wasted enough time on PowerPoint Presentations. It's a necessary evil, but there are much better ways to approach it. Based off a talk I gave @ APTS. Enjoy!
Using icons is a great way to add visuals to your presentation. There are many ways to get icons online, some are even free. But if you need a specific icon that you can’t find or if you want a special spin to your icon (color, shadow etc) – you can use PowerPoint’s great (and somewhat hidden) “Merge Shapes” commands to create your own icons.
Using these commands you can combine basic shapes into other shapes. You can union and subtract shapes. You can intersect and combine. All while still working natively inside PowerPoint. Once you have created an icon you can change the color, filling and add shadows as needed.
It is just as fun as building with Lego blocks! Well, almost..
This is a guide in 15 steps showing you how you can use these commands to create your own icon - the example we are using is a calendar icon.
The document provides advice on improving sales pitches by focusing on the audience rather than the company. It notes that most pitches focus on details about the company but the audience does not care about these things. It recommends asking three questions - who is the audience, what is their problem, and how can you help - to craft a pitch that addresses the audience's needs directly. An example is given of reframing a pitch to discuss the audience's situation and how the company can help solve their problem. The overall message is to change the focus of sales pitches from the company to the audience in order to generate more interest, sales, and profits.

Relationship selling involves solving customer problems, influencing people with ideas, and moving products or services. It is about building relationships through being helpful, honest, and persistent. A successful sales presentation has three stages: first sell yourself by connecting with the customer, then sell your company's value and expertise, and finally present your product or solution. The goal is to understand the customer's needs and provide a solution that creates value over price.
This document discusses objections and stalls that may occur during sales presentations. It defines stalls as attempts to avoid the salesperson that happen early in the sales cycle before needs have been fully assessed. Objections occur after needs have been presented but concerns remain. The document provides examples of stalls and objections and recommends techniques like questioning and addressing benefits to overcome objections using the CQBC (cushion, question, benefit, close) method. It emphasizes building understanding of customer needs to move the sale forward.

Several brands have thousands of people walking into their stores, their cinema houses, their coffee shops, etc. each day. People who are also on Facebook, on Twitter, etc. And yet these brands have low fan followings on Social Media. And they are struggling to build those up. Perhaps burning money on media buy, to do so.
How about energizing those footfalls to become fans?? And of course, thereafter, get the fans back into the stores?! That is the proposition offered here. Would love to read your comments.
The document discusses selling skills, specifically the SPIN method of asking questions. It emphasizes asking implication questions to uncover implied needs and develop them into explicit needs before introducing solutions. Implication questions demonstrate concern for how problems are affecting the customer and help build credibility. The document also discusses closing techniques like using colorful language to describe benefits, creating a sense of fear of loss, and following up with customers after a sale. Roleplaying and focusing on implication questions are presented as ways to improve selling skills.

How to Really Connect With Your Audience! It's not your slides! It's the value you bring to your audience.
Understand the ABC of really connecting with your audience. Without them, you are NOTHING!
This document discusses five skills that can be trained to improve innovation: associating, questioning, observing, experimenting, and networking. Associating involves connecting ideas from different fields, questioning means asking questions to understand problems in new ways, observing is carefully watching the world to gain insights, experimenting is constantly learning through new experiences, and networking expands one's knowledge by meeting diverse people. Practicing these skills, such as asking more questions or meeting someone new each week, can help innovators change the status quo through smart risks.
The document provides five design principles for creating slides that effectively communicate messages to audiences:
1. Focus on the main message you want the audience to remember.
2. Keep designs simple with less text and only 1 main point per slide.
3. Use interesting fonts instead of boring standard ones to engage audiences.
4. Include high quality images that visually represent the message.
5. Choose a color scheme that fits the theme and works cohesively.
