Tribute to the King | Triumph launch Elvis Presley limited edition Bonneville T120

Triumph Motorcycles have launched yet another special edition, revealing a £14,495 Bonneville T120 Elvis Presley Limited Edition retro bike on Tuesday, June 18.

Limited to 925 bikes worldwide, it comes just over a week on from the Hinckley brand’s last special edition – a £22,995 Speed Triple 1200RR produced in collaboration with watch company, Breitling. Before that came a ‘Slippery Sam’ tribute Trident 660 in late March.

This Bonnie build is said to be inspired by the story of the ‘Memphis Mafia’ Bonnevilles – a group of T120s purchased by the American singer back in 1965, following a test ride on his friend Jerry Schilling’s recently purchased machine.

Elvis was so impressed by the bike, that he asked his transportation manager, Alan Fortis to order one for him and all of his friends that evening. Seven Triumph T120s were then delivered to his Bel Air home the same day by Bill Robertson & Sons, with the group riding the bikes late into the night, until the police were called by the neighbours.

“With so much interest in the story so far, we’re confident our passionate customers will be thrilled at the chance to own this magnificent tribute to the biggest selling solo artist in history, when it arrives in dealerships in July,” Triumph’s Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Stroud said.

Earlier this year, a one-off Presley Bonneville sold for $20,000 at the Amelia Island Auction alongside a matching Gibson Les Paul Guitar, to raise money for the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation.

This new Triumph special edition takes that same tribute ethos and opens it up to more customers, combining the standard T120 spec with a new livery and a number of special touches.

Starting with the colour, there’s a mix of red, gold, and black, with Elvis’s name produced in gold dots representative of set lights on a stage. You’ll also find hand painted gold line detailing alongside a number of chromed parts  including the exhaust and classically styled spoked rims.

Elsewhere, the handlebar clamp is numbered, and features a laser etched Elvis signature. Each bike also comes with a Sony gold disc in a special record sleeve, and there’s a certificate of authenticity from Triumph, too.
