LSU Basketball v Arkansas

LSU men's Basketball team members and coaches watch the game from the sidelines on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, during LSU's 94-74 win against Arkansas in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, La.

LSU men’s basketball continued building its roster on Wednesday with the addition of transfer wing Dji Bailey.

Bailey has spent his last four seasons with the Richmond Spiders. In his senior season, he broke out as a major role player, finishing second on the team in minutes per game.

He finished the season averaging 10.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game.

He contributed all across the stat sheet for a team that was the Atlantic 10 regular season champions and qualified for the National Invitation Tournament. At the end of the season, he was named a co-winner of the A-10’s most improved player award.

Bailey finished his Richmond career with the fourth-highest shooting percentage in program history. He’ll now spend his final year of eligibility with LSU.

LSU was in need of a wing who can slash to the rim and provide solid defense, and Bailey fills that hole.

He’ll join a Tigers team that has also added Kansas State guard Cam Carter and UT-Martin guard Jordan Sears in the transfer portal.

LSU will be looking to take another step forward in the third season under head coach Matt McMahon, with the second year culminating in an NIT appearance.

The team will return several key contributors who are expected to assume larger roles. Although LSU is the beneficiary of better continuity than in the past, transfer additions like Bailey were still crucial.
