South Lincs and Border League cricket round-up

Daniel Hughes hit a boundary-laden century to drive Ketton Sports to victory in the South Lincs and Border League on Saturday.

Hughes plundered 25 fours and a six in his 136 as the Rutland side secured a 115-run success at Market Deeping 2nds in their Division One clash.

They had to recover from losing three early wickets with just two runs on the board as Adam Renton then joined Hughes in a 62-run stand.

Hughes and Freddie Renton then added 155 runs for the next wicket with the former falling one run short of his half-century.

Dan George took 3-21 for Deeping who were bowled out for 146 in reply with Vaughn Williams making 42.

Mat Bird took 3-42 for Ketton while Freddie Renton completed a fine all-round performance with 2-9 from 5.3 overs.

A sensational spell of bowling from Donnel Sylvester helped Billingborough 2nds beat Baston in a low-scoring Division Two contest at the Shrine.

Sylvester took 5-1 from seven overs which featured six maidens and inspired Billingborough to victory.

The visitors had been bowled out for 98 with Dan Adams top-scoring for Billingborough after making 29.

Jules McAlpine took a superb 4-7 from nine overs for Baston and then hit 31 as they were bowled out for 82 in reply.

Ahsan Azhar was another bowler in brilliant form to help Burghley Park 2nds to victory over Castor & Ailsworth.

He took 6-5 from 4.5 overs as Castor were bowled out for 87 which table-topping Burghley passed thanks to an unbeaten 39 from Matt Davies.

Moulton Harrox 2nds maintained their promising start to the campaign.

They are currently in second spot in Division Two after a 13-run away victory at Skegness 2nds over the weekend.

They made 186-7 from their 45 overs after batting first with Ruari Drumm leading the charge with 61. Anish Suwarneraj struck 41 while fellow opener Blake Wolstenholme added 24.

Flynn McMillan was then the pick of the Moulton attack with 4-22 from his nine overs as Skegness were bowled out for 173 in reply.

Grantham's third team recorded a convincing 158-run win over Belton Park.

Danny Ashley smashed 15 boundaries in his 120 while Luke Kennedy-Short struck 36 as Grantham totalled 202-6 from 45 overs.

Belton were then blitzed for 44 in reply with Richard Brewer and Michael Paige their only players to reach double figures.

Ram Mangineni was the star of the Grantham attack with 5-3 from five overs while Olly Rose returned 3-13.

Bourne 2nds were beaten by 28 runs in their home match with Freiston in the Championship at the Abbey Lawn.

Tom Patchett had picked up 5-27 and Calum Fawcett finished with 2-17 as Freiston were dismissed for 121.

However, Bourne were bowled out for 93 in reply despite Patchett making 30 and Jordan Grosse adding 23.

Spalding 2nds suffered a heavy 10-wicket away defeat at Ancaster in Division One.

They were restricted to 119-8 with opener Michael Kearns carrying his bat throughout the 45 overs for an unbeaten 40.

Ancaster needed just 18 overs to knock off the required runs as Anthony Richardson racked up 102 not out for the league leaders.

Uffington lost by six wickets in their Division Three clash with Boston 3rds after being bowled out for 141.

Richard McDermott made an unbeaten 48 for the villagers after opener Joe Genever had scored 33.

Finn Bray collected 2-35 in the Boston reply while Luca Harrison conceded just eight runs from his nine overs.
