Lincolnshire Premier Cricket League round-up





Rob Bentley blasted a century as Bourne made a rapid return to winning ways in the Lincolnshire Premier League with an eight-wicket victory over Long Sutton on Saturday.

Bentley plundered 13 fours and five sixes in his 116 to spearhead Bourne's successful run chase as they bounced back from last week's first defeat of the season against Lindum.

Paul Edgeller had earlier hit his maiden Premier League century for Sutton who posted 239-8 from their 50 overs after being put into bat.

Edgeller made 106 while Dan Oldfield added 33 with Corey Young being the pick of the home attack with 3-58.

Bentley and Jordan Temple got Bourne off to a solid start with a 90-run first wicket stand before the latter fell for 32.

Jonny Cheer and Bentley added 99 runs for the second wicket until the opener became Jake Burton's second scalp of the day.

Sam Evison then joined Cheer in an unbroken 57-run partnership to steer Bourne home in the 37th over.

Cheer closed on 43 not out while Evison was undefeated on 39 as Bourne maintained their place among the leading quartet in the division.

Woodhall Spa are the new leaders after reigning champions Lindum were beaten by Grantham on Saturday.

Spa secured a comfortable eight-wicket win at Market Deeping after dismissing their hosts for 72.

Matt Mills was the only home batsman to make double figures as Deeping were skittled out inside 25 overs.

Hayatullah Niazi picked up a couple of wickets in the Woodhall reply but the visitors had secured the win by the 10-over mark.

Spalding were also on the wrong end of a heavy defeat as they lost by 167 runs at Sleaford.

Aayush Patel hit 102 as Sleaford struck 353-3 from their 50 overs with Barnaby Dring taking a pair of wickets for Spalding.

The visitors then batted out their 50 overs to close on 186-9 as Ethan Lawrence led their scoring with 36.

Spalding host Scunthorpe on Saturday while Long Sutton are at home to Grantham, Bourne visit Woodhall with Deeping travelling to Bracebridge.
