Stories of those lost in the gritty and crime-laden asphalt jungle are together in this collection from the acclaimed noir series. There are all kinds of dark business you might encounter on a cold night in Basin City, and the tales in this anthology paint a gloriously dirty portrait. This edition includes a fourteen-page expanded cover-and-art gallery featuring pieces from previous editions.… (more)

These are short stories but Marv is back! While I could have done without more Dwight, Hartigan and the girls of Old Town, Marv's back!

Some of these stories tie into events that happened in other books (like when Marv sees Hartigan and Nancy cozied up in what's innocent but he doesn't know their story), and in a lot of ways its a prequel for Marv. It opens with him in a fender bender going through the windshield, and having flashbacks of different events where he helped people, essentially becoming a street-anti hero.

Dwight's back in a lackluster story with two discount hitmen that make cameos throughout this series alongside more Old Town girls saga, this time which goes into detail of their rules of law, order, and decorum plus the consequences of anyone who dares violate them.

There are a few other stories but to be honest, after Marv's stories everything else is a blur. For fans of the film a few of these shorts wound up in the movie. ( )

Another compelling read from Miller in his iconic Sin City series. Not much more to say than I did in my review of the first one ([b:Sin City, Vol. 1: The Hard Goodbye|392297|Sin City, Vol. 1 The Hard Goodbye (Sin City, #1)|Frank Miller|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1396598209s/392297.jpg|3696736]). As usual the style is impeccable, but the assortment of stories are too short and schizophrenic to be genuinely enjoyed in one run or when spaced. I much prefer the long-story style of the previous volumes. ( )

[book: Booze, Broads, and Bullets] is the sixth book in the Sin City series. On the heels of [book: Family Values] one often doesn't know what to expect, but thankfully this book reinstated the bulk of the more entertaining and satisfying Sin City stories. This collection is full of humor, and does indeed provide some of the backstory that was missing from previous volumes in regards to Dwight, Fat Man, and Little Boy.

This collection also fixes some of the problems with the art that I had in the previous volume. With the exception of [book: That Yellow Bastard] the books have been completely black and white. This volume adds red and blue to the mixture as well, though always in very small number and to great effect. I'm glad that the film adaptation used a similar array of colors rather than just the yellow.

This is altogether a very satisfying volume and a breath of fresh air after the disappointingly slim previous collection. Only one more left now until the end. I remember it being a bit of a doozy. ( )

A fun collection of Sin City short stories!
"The Customer is Always Right " is my favorite, I loved the quiet of "Silent Night ", and I dug the font style of "Rats". A good read that is over much too quickly! ( )
