The Curse (2023– )
2/10
This made no sense
7 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I can't even begin to type what this show was about. I mean, I get what they were doing, eco-friendly living, etc., and that's cool. I just wish it had some meaning to it. Or at the least, have a curse in it or something close to it.

It left me with so many questions, ESPECIALLY the last episode. Don't get me wrong, the entire show from start to finish, left me with questions but that last episode?! It made no sense! Asher is floating? Just woke up on the ceiling, no explanation WHATSOEVER as to why he continued to float even when he managed to use the ceiling to climb outside where his wife is in active labor.

Eventually he ends up in space, of course, because that's the only thing that made sense through this whole show.

The curse of it all is that we have to sit through 10 episodes where there is no curse (it's just a tiktok fad), no real story, and a guy who floats at the end. Oh, and little stories in between to fill in the gaps. Stories that are just about as unimportant as the actual curse I was searching for. It's not cringe, at all, just boring and a complete waste of time.

Just avoid this one. A24 doesn't always get it right and this is one of those times where they got it so wrong. There was zero humor, dark or light. It lacked everything you'd expect from a show called The Curse, including any actual curses. Never typed a review this long but I had to because this was horrible. And for those that think this show is going over peoples heads because they think it horrible: YOU AREN'T GOING TO GET AN AWARD IN JOURNALISM FOR YOUR REVIEW, so pipe down. This was trash. Just admit it.

It was almost good...
30 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Almost. The storyline was interesting. That's what had me intrigued. Especially with the cast! I mean, you can't go wrong with Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, and Kevin Bacon!!

Except, you can. You can go way wrong with such an exceptional cast. I'll say this much, because again, I don't like to tell the whole movie, it'll have you waiting for something to happen. I waited for 2 hours for something as small as an explanation or a hint of what's going on here.

The scenes changed without a clue as to what you just watched. I even thought the herd of 100 deer would at least give me some insight but no. Nothing. It was even a part where the buck emerged from the group, looking like he was ready to explain what's going on, but to my dismay, nothing.

The ending was worse. It just ended. Wham bam, thank you ma'am. Left me with more questions than your average 5 year old in a museum. Since I can't get those 2 hours back, I'll give you 2 minutes of my time. Avoid this movie like the Plague, no, like we did Covid in 2020. You've been warned.

Wish I could give it -10 stars
1 November 2023
Terrible. Just terrible, Terrible, TERRIBLE! I've seen garbage fires before, but not a garbage island fire like this! It's terrible at every angle.

Let me count the ways: 1. The acting actually HURTS. No, seriously, it's the most painful acting I've ever had to watch!

2. The acting. I can't expound on that enough. It's so horrible, I listed it twice 3. No, a third time. That's how awful it is.

4. There's absolutely no story line. After about 5 minutes into each episode, the point of it is just drowned out by how bad the acting is.

5. *Sigh* The male strippers can't even save this debacle. Maybe if they showed a little more (wink-wink) then it would be a show worth watching

Long story short: I couldn't make it pass episode 1 of season 2. I really tried to give this show a chance, trying to support my skinfolk and all but black cast or not, this wasn't worth the support I gave. I'm in shock that it has 3 seasons, but if I had Tyler Perry money, it would already be 10 more seasons waiting for y'all. Disappointed. Mad there's not enough male nudity in a show about male strippers. At least P-Valley gives you something!!

It's only been 3 episodes, calm down
8 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Is this show weird? No, it's not. Is it slow? Yes. Confusing at times? Yes. Interesting? It is. My interest is in how this all pans out. The show touches on postpartum depression and how it can affect not only the mother, but the father as well, who is narrating throughout the first 3 episodes.

I'm not really good at telling what happens. So I won't. The characters were great, the acting wasn't bad, and the storyline is intriguing. To me, at least, because I love everything occult. I love mysteries too and this series has plenty of it to go around.

I will say this, though, it has waaaaay too many flashbacks and flashforwards so you have to pay attention to where in time you are. Episode 3 did leave me a bit confused, wondering why they jumped ahead so fast without explaining the ending of episode 2 but maybe it's because it'll be explained in later episodes. Let us pray. Because I need answers.

I'm patiently waiting for more. I think it's a decent show so far, a little slow but maybe it's for a reason. Apple hasn't really disappointed me, so I'm giving this show a chance.

****UPDATE**** Listen, I really tried to stick with this show. No, for real. I tried my hardest! But that ending made me drop 2 stars. It had the nerve to be even more confusing AND leave us hanging! So, there's going to be a season 2 without thoroughly explaining season 1? On god? Yeah, on god fam. *sighs*

The way I laughed at the end
24 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, so, this movie started off good. It had you thinking this was a suspense/horror about a woman who is seeing people that are not there. At least that's what I thought. I was wrong. So very, very wrong.

The 2 people in question ended up being children she left behind. Okay, cool. You're a deadbeat mom. The abandoned children looked to be adults now and they have found ways of integrating themselves into her life by way of the half siblings and husband.

I guess her original kids decided that they've played enough games and now it's time to confront the mother who left to go get her hair done but never came back. I'm with the kids. Like, you're going to explain yourself, "mom"! She does. Her first kids father was a bad man. That's it. He was bad. But if he was "bad", what does that make her? Satan.

Now the ending cracked me up. The kids came over, threw the abandoned daughter a birthday party, flooded their house, ordered carryout, and killed the father. Poor guy did nothing wrong. But ol' moms pulled a trick on ALL OF EM! I guess this movie proved that women can be deadbeats too. Because she was expert level deadbeat!

It was fun!
27 January 2023
This was a feel-good movie! Jonah Hill and Lauren London had excellent chemistry. I could see a couple like them in real life.

Having Eddie Murphy and Nia Long as the parents of London was an excellent choice. I saw my own parents in their characters, especially Eddie. And David Duchovny and Julia Louis Dreyfus as Hills parents were phenomenal! I could literally feel the discomfort that both Hill and London felt when their parents met.

It's a very relatable movie. For myself anyway. The discussions they had about race, the discomforts people feel about the subject were brought out very well. Some may not like it based on that alone, but I made sure not to come here until I watched it. And I'm glad I did because I gave it 2 thumbs up on Netflix.

9/10.

I can't begin to describe my disappointment
26 January 2023
Dear Anne Rice,

Let me start off by saying how incredibly sad I was of your passing. I've enjoyed your books for the past 20 years. I'm also incredibly sad about this show that's based off one of your best series. I know you've spun 100s of times in your grave, and I'm apologizing for that.

For me, the only parts they got right were the names. I know it's been awhile since I've read anything about the Mayfair family, but that doesn't mean I've forgotten it! The acting is just terrible, at least they could've casted better, you know? It seems like whoever is behind making this, didn't really read the book, or just skimmed through it.

Listen, I can only imagine you are in the afterlife shaking your head, like those of us who have to watch this debacle. I'm sorry, once again. And I'll just reread the books. You'll always be in my heart and my Kindle.

Love, A Devoted Fan <3.

Come on David!
24 January 2023
I'm 16 minutes in, with 16 long, excruciating minutes left! Ugh!! I like David Harbour as much as the next person but THIS was horrible!

First, it makes zero sense. Just 32 minutes of David babbling on and on, playing his father (why, I don't know) in some footage he found while fighting rats in his mother's attic (help me please! I blinked twice), nevertheless...

The acting from everyone involved was terrible. EveryONE! I literally have no idea what's going on or what I'm supposed to figure out or, and most importantly, why I'm even watching it. The name, Frankenstein's Monsters Monster, Frankenstein is what initially got my attention because it's funny, right?

Wrong. It's absurd drivel. I'm actually so upset with myself that I'm putting myself in timeout and I want me to think about what I did, and write a 3 page essay on why I watched this before coming here and reading the REAL reviews, not just the first 3 or 4 which were complete LIES! Hopefully, I'll learn my lesson. I gotta go sit in the corner now.

Welcome to Chippendales (2022–2023)

I shouldn't have seen the documentary
4 January 2023
That was my mistake. I watched the documentary on Hulu after seeing episode 7 of this series. There are a lot of inaccurate events, and some that were made up. Well, a lot that was made up.

Before seeing the documentary, I liked the show. Even though I was a child when I first heard of Chippendales, it was nice to see how it started. I had no idea who started it, partly because I was a kid and not really interested in it.

I think the "story" was well told, with sprinkles of truth here and there. I honestly think they could've told it the way it happened because watching episode 8 was hard. I know what truly happened and it's not easy to watch, well, flat out lies.

Just watch the documentary. The truth is way better than this lie.

Holy Night!
26 December 2022
10/10!!! If Santa was real, David Harbour would be his name!! Let me be clear, I H-A-T-E CHRISTMAS! But not today! David Harbour played the hell out of this role.

It had some very heartwarming moments that made me want to believe in Santa. At 41. Don't come for me until you see the movie.

Here I was, at home by myself no less, screaming "KILL EM SANTIE KLAUS!! GIVE THEM THEIR LUMPS!!!" At the top of my lungs too! It took a little long to get to the parts where Santa deals with his naughty list. But when it gets there, he delivers!

Honestly, Santa looked good with that man bun and combine that with his awesome warrior skills from a life before he became jolly and you have one really good Christmas movie! One I'll add to my favorites.

Brilliant and HILARIOUS!!
24 November 2022
I thought this movie was so good! Will Ferrell is my favorite comedian and Ryan Reynolds is HILARIOUS! They really work well together. Both complimenting each other perfectly!

Ok, so my review might be a little biased, as I believe Will Ferrell can do no wrong whatsoever. I've been watching him since his days on SNL and Deadpool is one of my favorite characters so (shrugs).

I hate musicals. Let's get that out of the way. I don't watch them on purpose. But since Will and Ryan were in it, I decided, after a huge eye roll, to watch it anyway. I wasn't disappointed. At all! All the actors were superb! The story was heartwarming! And the comedy was HILARIOUS! With that, I say, GOOD AFTERNOON! (you'll understand when you watch it)

OUTSTANDING!!
24 November 2022
I was blown completely away by this series! I've always been a fan of Wednesday, she is my spirit animal. But in this series? She's a beast! No other Wednesday could fight like this one!

Also I love that Christina Ricci is in it as well, playing a teacher at Nevermore. She WAS my favorite Wednesday, but now she's number 2! Jenna Ortega owned that part! She was impressive! I couldn't get enough of her!!

I gave it 10 stars because it exceeded my expectations. I didn't think they could replace Ricci as the best Wednesday and somehow they did amd it worked so well! The story was easy to follow and the characters were easy to love too. It all blended perfectly into 8 episodes and I hope there is a season 2 (fingers crossed)

Hands down....THE BEST SHOW I'VE EVER WATCHED
11 November 2022
Ok, I've been on this earth 41 years and I've never seen a show like this!! It's pure genius.

It's hard to really explain this one, as you would have to see it for yourself. It's one of a kind. It's almost like being on a shrooms trip. I mean, this show is OUT THERE. Like Pluto out there!

It's witty, sometimes scary, sometimes unexplainable, always entertaining. I wish there were more seasons. It's literally the best show on HBO Max that's only 10 minutes an episode. The stories don't blend well, but somehow they blend perfectly. As weird as that sounds, it's what makes this show brilliant. It's unlike anything you've seen and you won't ever see anything like it again.

SUPERB!!!
8 November 2022
Wow! Just WOWWWWW! I had been wanting to see this movie for about a year. I finally sat down to watch it and WOW! It's just so good! Mark Rylance was outstanding as the Cutter and main character. He really surprised me!

The story was really easy to follow, it's exciting to see it unfold. Leonard (Rylance) had me believing everything and nothing all at once. I loved how he tells his side stories about his life, it really adds to the innocence that exudes from his character. I was rooting for Leonard the entire movie.

My takeaway? Don't mess with the Cutter! He may be quiet, pleasant, and from England, but he's no punk! And he definitely isn't a TAILOR!

I can't stop watching it
3 November 2022
I've read the reviews and I don't agree with the negative ones. Yes, it sometimes loses focus and drifts off somewhere else. But it also holds your attention. I can't stop watching it. I'm on episode 4 and it's getting good!

Why is it good? I do NOT know! It just is. I guess you'll have people who will like it and those who will not. It's dark and at times witty. I honestly have absolutely no idea what it's even about. Aside from the cringy relationship between the 30 year old and the 17 year old child, I can't really pinpoint what this show is trying to say.

Maybe the many stories will start to make sense as I get further into the show. Miles Teller is pretty good at being the main character who is a cop that's dating a child. He also doesn't seem to have been born with emotions. I mean ZERO emotions. The other characters are cool, the storyline may be a little hard to follow at times, and I like the aesthetics. Gonna keep pushing through until the end.

Maybe I've watched too many scary movies?
26 October 2022
Or maybe this series isn't scary? I'm on episode 3 and I'm contemplating whether or not to watch the 4th. Hmmm. Quite the conundrum. Okay, not really a conundrum but I'm seriously considering leaving this series to the kiddies.

The 1st episode had a good story. Nice visuals. Stupid monster. Wasn't scary. Just sort of interesting. 2nd episode? Would've been scary to my 4 year old. Maybe. She's kind of fearless for her age, so just maybe. Rats? Really? That's been done so many times that a rat isn't scary at all. Not even a really big one. Go to New York and see one of those rats. It's scarier, trust me.

I'm on the 3rd episode now, yet I'm here typing this review. I love Guillermo del Toro's work. Like, all of it. Except this. It's nowhere near "spine tingling" as the summary suggests. I've spent the majority of the 3rd episode on my phone. It's just NOT SCARY. Nor does it hold my attention. I guess that's because I'm a 41 year old adult whose seen damn near every scary movie/series ever created. I'm hard to please, it seems. So....(shrugs)

Stephen King. Need I say more?
5 October 2022
Mr. Harrigan's Phone is creepy as hell, let's start there first. This movie is about a boy, Craig, who starts to read to an old billionaire, Mr. Harrigan. This becomes routine for a number of years and they end up being friends. Craig even buys Mr. Harrigan an iPhone! And he quickly learns how to use it. Awesome, right?

Fast forward, Mr. Harrigan dies suddenly. Craig is understandably devastated. He puts Mr. Harrigan's phone in the casket and that should've been the end of it. But this is Stephen King so, ya know, it's not the end of it.

I won't spoil it for you, because it gets extremely creepy. For me, I'd love to text my mom from the spirit world, but I'd also be freaked out beyond comprehension. That's why I love Stephen King, he really knows how to creep you out!

4 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
While I'm typing this, I'm shaking my head. I'm 45 minutes in and look where I am. Here, with y'all, trying to figure out what I'm watching.

Don't get me wrong, I like Gerard. Just not in this movie. I am lost as to why his wife was taken. She was there one minute, gone the next. Gerard is running around frantically trying to find her, his wife's parents needed serious acting classes, and his accent keeps appearing and disappearing, just like my interest in this movie.

I'm at the part where he's been pulled over by a police officer, while the guy who kidnapped his wife is tied up in the back. Well, he's kind of tied up I guess. Listen, I'm probably going to turn this off after I write this, mostly because Gerard just ran from the police and instead of shooting him, the officer shoots in the air, barely trying AT AAAALLLLLLLL to apprehend him. I hope you can make it further than I did.

Gouging my eyes out would be heaven
20 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This has got to be the worst movie I've ever seen! At this point, I believe the positive reviews are FAKE!

Here's why. So, I like the premise. A bunch of people in a small town disappeared on a trail. Cool, right? Wrong!! So this group of idiots decide to go on the trail armed with classified reports, to see what really happened. Yawn.

Supposedly, this is based off actual events. While that might be true, what isn't true, is this debacle is a good movie. I'm not sure if I'm almost at the end, but the fact that I'm making this review while I'm watching it, should really tell you everything you need to know.

What's worst, is the berry eating duo. And the brother who ripped his sister's limbs off her body with his bare hands. None of it makes sense outside of the premise. It's a poorly made mess. Please don't watch this (insert prayer hands)

It was pretty good
17 September 2022
I couldn't wait for this movie to come to Amazon Prime. Had it in my watchlist! I wasn't disappointed. To be honest, I was completely wrong about what was really going on.

The movie is about twin boys who suspect the woman who says she is their mother, isn't really mom. They find their "mom's" face covered in some kind of post cosmetic face mask when they first arrive. I wasn't quite sure how long it had been since they last saw her, the movie doesn't make that clear, but it must've been awhile. Anyway, her behavior becomes suspicious throughout the movie, leading the boys to think she isn't the mom they remembered.

You'll be playing the guessing game through most of the movie, like I did. Or maybe you'll catch on. Who knows (shrugs), but what I do know is......it's a GOOD watch! Don't cheat yourself, dear reader, TREAT YOURSELF!

Meh. Just meh.
11 September 2022
I didn't love this movie. But, I didn't hate it either. The storyline was cool, it just wasn't executed correctly. I believe the theory that the moon is hollow and all, but I feel they could've expounded more on that part. Also, they should've left out the alien ancestry aspect of it. I mean, yeah, it's a plausible theory, but still should've been left out.

I don't think it was a bad movie, a little rushed, and had so many plot holes and parts of it that should've been scrubbed like the launch, but it's a good watch if you're bored out of your mind and nothing else is on HBO Max (shrugs). Also, I didn't mind the actors. Halle was actually good in this one, which I was praying was the case lol.

Warning: Spoilers
This would be it! I can't believe I wasted my time watching this debacle! It led me down a path to nowhere! It just.....happened. At the end, I was left wondering when someone was going to be haunted. The fact that the teacher who pretended to be black was never elaborated on was enough to make me scream because then the movie just ENDED. No explanation whatsoever. Just make up your own conclusion I guess. It started off really well but ended so abruptly. I hated it. And I love Regina. Not in this movie, though.

11 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm currently 15 minutes into this film and I can already see it's trash. Like, old, moldy trash. Like, if you went to a trash island and sat down in the middle of it, TRASH! I literally have no clue what direction it's going in. It's madness! Pure madness!! I'm going to keep watching it, only because I really love Jordan. But when I say he is TAP DANCING ON THIN ICE......HONEYYYY he has ONE more bad movie in him before I leave him alone. I can't support garbage. I don't have it in me. And also, why is Keke Palmer even in this movie? She's already getting on my nerves. I honestly don't know how I'm going to get through this, but pray for me y'all.

*Edit: Question 1. Was it a hot air balloon or a UFO/UAP?

Question 2. Why was the Asian cowboys story even in the movie?

Question 3. What did the aliens even want?

Question 4. Did I fall asleep, but didn't know it, thus missing what the aliens actually looked like?

Question 5. Or was the identity of said aliens never expounded upon?

Question 6. Why was this even made?

I literally hate myself for watching this. I will never get that time back.

So, the Comanche spoke English? I mean, I wasn't there, but, these Comanche spoke excellent English. Anyway, this is a terrible movie. Little lady is a beast, somehow, (she's the size of my 11 year old, and can take down grown men, but couldn't kill a bear) and I'm supposed to believe she can take on a Predator? Highly bloody UNLIKELY! I tried, and that's what's most important.

It's only been 3 episodes and people are giving it bad reviews? I'm suspecting some hate towards the LGBTQ community because one of the actresses is trans.

Besides that, it's a funny show. I can't wait for episode 4! Maya is hilarious, as always, and the music is awesome!
