[Warning: The below contains spoilers for Grantchester Season 9, Episode 2.] The very last scene that Tom Brittney shot on location in the village of Grantchester was the final one of the June 23 episode of Grantchester. In it, his character, departing vicar Will Davenport, said a heartfelt goodbye to the man who had become his best friend and sleuthing partner on the long-running Masterpiece mystery series, police detective Geordie Keating (Robson Green). Will found Geordie strolling through lush Grantchester Meadows, a place the pair had often spent time walking and talking. Now, they hugged and said “I love you” before Will spoke his final words, “Geordie, I hope I made you proud.” His companion’s reply was filled with affection: “Every day, son. Every day.” With that, the two men walked off in opposite directions, and Grantchester bid farewell to Vicar No. 2. It wasn’t an easy scene for Brittney, who joined the well-loved PBS show in 2019 and...

Grantchester is getting a new vicar once more in Season 9. Tom Brittney will appear as Will Davenport in just a few episodes of the new season before exiting the series and being replaced by Rishi Nair‘s Alphy Kotteram. Is Charlotte Ritchie, who plays Will’s wife, Bonnie, leaving with Brittney? Ritchie has been vocal about her upcoming appearance in Grantchester Season 9, which premieres Sunday, June 16 on PBS. The new episodes take place in 1961, when “life is good for Will and Geordie [Robson Green],” PBS describes in the Season 9 logline. It continues: “The families are always together, from Sunday lunches to planning summer holidays, and with honorary grandparents Mrs. C and Jack and adopted uncles Daniel and Leonard; it’s one big happy family! But when Will is approached with a life-changing offer, can he leave Grantchester and Geordie behind? As Geordie struggles with personal loss and ever-growing family conflict between Cathy and teenage daughter,...

We all love mysteries because they are always intriguing puzzles that force you to use all your wits and deductive reasoning along with the characters to solve gruesome crimes. However, let's be honest, there are an infinite number of movies and TV shows with similar premise, which makes the mystery genre seem rather unremarkable.
However, when the crime story focuses not so much on the crime itself, but on its consequences, human relationships, the psyche of the criminal, the victim and their loved ones, we get a deep psychological drama. Add quality cinematography and a talented cast to the formula and you have a surefire hit.
Such was the case with Broadchurch, starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman. Yes, you can find criticism of the show here and there, but the vast majority of professional critics and audiences remained positive, and now the show boasts an impressive 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

One of the things that makes mystery and crime TV series so popular is the way the viewer usually solves the same mysteries that the main character does. Those who have watched through all the possible shows within this realm set in the modern day may want to take on yet another challenge and try to solve the crimes without having access to all the technology.
With no databases of DNA samples, no cell phone tracking and no Internet available for quick research, the detectives of the past centuries had to rely only on their deductive and interrogation skills to catch the criminals. Here are 8 shows with the best depictions of such work.

Exclusive: The story of a woman who was accused of murder after entering into a suicide pact with her terminally ill husband is being adapted for the screen in the UK.
Corestar Media has acquired the dramatic rights to Mavis Eccleston’s story, who took the agonizing decision to end her life alongside husband of six decades Dennis, who was in terrible pain from cancer.
The feature, Goodnight Darling, will follow how the 79-year-old Mavis was arrested and tried for murder, only to be unanimously found not guilty, and then began a campaign with her family to change the law to allow people to take the choice of assisted dying.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel author Deborah Moggach, whose mother served time in prison in an assisted dying case, has written a script. The story could be made as a film or a TV series, said a rep for UK drama indie Corestar.

During the Super Bowl, the teaser trailer for ‘Deadpool 3’ was released as predicted, offering a tantalizing glimpse into what appears to be the next exciting chapter in the MCU. Among the revelations in the trailer is the appearance of Cassandra Nova as the movie’s main villain, confirming rumors that surfaced back in August 2023. We had previously speculated that Charles Xavier might also have a role in the film due to Cassandra’s involvement. For those unfamiliar with Cassandra, she has a tragic backstory: she was Xavier’s twin gestating in the womb.
Xavier identified her as the “Mummudrai,” the Shi’ar equivalent of an equal and opposite spirit. Despite Xavier’s genetic potential, Cassandra emerged as his physical twin. However, Xavier perceived her as malevolent and attempted to kill her with his psychic abilities, leading to a miscarriage for their mother, Sharon. Cassandra survived and spent decades in a sewer wall,...

Historically, television content has largely originated in the United States and spread to other parts of the world. But in recent years, this dynamic has begun to change, with British television shows experiencing a surge in popularity in the U.S. market. This shift can be attributed chiefly to the rise of streaming platforms, which have made international content more accessible to U.S. audiences.
Recent data from Parrot Analytics reveals that British TV shows accounted for nearly 6% of the total demand for TV series in the U.S. during the third quarter of 2023. This figure represents the largest demand share for foreign content, surpassing other notable producers of TV content such as Japan and South Korea.
Impressively, the demand for British shows in the U.S. has grown by 75% over the past three and a half years, outpacing the 65% growth rate for shows from other countries (including the U.

Exclusive: Ciara Charteris went to drama school with her eyes wide open. Born into a dynasty of talent agents, the Poldark actress-turned-safety advocate grew up steeped in stagecraft. “I entered drama school with a lot of privilege and knowledge of the industry,” she recalls. “It meant I was very aware of what was wrong immediately.”
Charteris left home to join the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in 2013. A decade earlier, Queen Elizabeth II gave the school its royal status to mark her 50th year on the throne. Its hallowed halls were once home to Anthony Hopkins, marking the start of a career that would take The Silence of the Lambs star to double Oscar glory.

We all know Grantchester is an ensemble drama, but Season 8’s final two hours made us feel it. Yes, there were big questions to answer for the leading men: Would Will end his guilt-and-pill-fueled bender in time to see Bonnie give birth? Would Geordie retire? But we also got enough growth from Larry to suddenly ‘ship him and Miss Scott (let’s call them Scarry!), touching scenes between Leonard and Jack, and Leonard and Daniel, and multiple reminders that the actresses playing Cathy and Mrs. C have incredible comedic timing.

After last week’s drama with Geordie clearing Will of reckless driving in a fatal motorcycle accident, the Grantchester writers knew we needed a laugh. Or, at the very least, a reason for Geordie to repeatedly roll his eyes before Will’s brooding continued. Season 8’s third episode delivered with help from an unlikely source: Painter Amedeo Modigliani’s Reclining Nude series.
