My Review as a Neurosurgery Student
jihadaldakhil11 June 2024
Warning: Spoilers
As a neurosurgery student, I find the medical information and facts in this series quite impressive. However, I do have some comments:

First, FEDRA's actions in terms of containment, stabilization of society, and setting examples for law violators are justifiable. In the face of a global disease outbreak that could kill millions or turn people into monsters, the military has the right to eliminate anyone who breaches the rules. Whether by killing those who leave the walls or by other means, these measures are necessary because there is no guarantee they haven't been exposed to the disease. In a world where morality has lost its meaning to creatures no longer human, a military dictatorship is a natural and expected outcome. I don't care about the opinions of those who disagree, because the reality of microbes is starkly different from an idealistic, colorful world.

Initially, I was bothered by the actions of the resistance because I am against revolution. However, as the episodes progressed and I learned they were working on a cure, my opinion changed, even though they were violating FEDRA's containment system. I appreciated many of Bill's actions at the beginning of the series, but he disappointed me greatly by the end. His mental decline and the loss of his daughter led him to irrationally see Ellie as his daughter, resulting in him killing numerous Fireflies to get her back. This act, especially his killing of the surgeon in a world with few doctors, demonstrates his poor mental state.

I know I've said a lot, but I love details in series like this. The methods and morals of many characters in 70% of movies and series seem naive and irrational. The main character's reckless and illogical decisions stand out, especially in comparison to real-world events like the COVID-19 pandemic, where we didn't resort to killing people. In similar life-threatening situations, decisions must prioritize the survival of the human race.

I was surprised by the ratings of the final episode. If a real pandemic occurred and someone like Bill made similar decisions, it would lead to a catastrophic loss of life, causing immense suffering. His actions would prevent billions of potential lives and cause widespread grief, as families would lose loved ones. Such decisions, if made by people like Bill, would spell doom for humanity. This sentiment extends to my disdain for the medical ethics community that keeps people alive against their will.

If you think, "This is just fiction, why criticize it as if it were real?" my remarks might not concern you. But for everyone else, the difference between fantasy and science fiction is significant. Fantasy might depict someone pulling a snake from thin air, but science fiction deals with realistic concepts like viruses, fungi, and bacteria that could potentially behave as shown in the series. Science fiction introduces scientific concepts that can profoundly affect us, making it fascinating to see even partially accurate scientific ideas in such works.

One of the best post apocalyptic shows.
nmpjgxwqj25 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The Last of Us TV series is a masterclass in storytelling, with Pedro Pascal delivering a phenomenal performance as Joel. He brings depth and nuance to the character, perfectly capturing the complexity of a man haunted by his past. The show's atmospheric tension, paired with its thoughtful pacing, makes for a gripping experience. The supporting cast, particularly Bella Ramsey as Ellie, shines alongside Pascal. The show's themes of love, loss, and survival are expertly woven throughout, making for a compelling and emotional ride. A must-watch for fans of the game and newcomers alike! However, if you're coming from the game, expect minor differences from the storyline.

Post-Apocalyptic films/tv series are always my favourite ones.
catleughluke23 March 2024
This is my review on The Last Of Us; First of all, I love the show. It gets confusing at first if you're coming from a game, but cast is amazing.

Pedro Pascal is the best Joel for the show. Also, acting of Bella Ramsey stunned me, she went from badass to soft like clicks.

Cast and crew for me is top tier. Plot is amazing. Whole setup and CGI is amazing.

I haven't completed the show yet, I'm 50% in (watch full 4 and half 5th episode) but so far the show is doing a great job.

As i said it gets confusing if you're coming from a game, but so far this is by far the best show ever coming off of a game.

Outstanding
I don't even know where to begin in describing how much I loved this show. I've played The Last of Us video games a few times so I'm familiar with the story and even though the show doesn't exactly stick to the same script as the game I couldn't care less. As long as a show is good, I don't care that's it's not exactly like a book or video game or whatever. I don't get why anyone would. It's very hard to adapt a book or game into a tv show or movie. They have to change things up that don't translate well or don't have the time to get as detailed as a book or game. My only complaint is that we have to wait 2 years between seasons. I want season 2 now!

Amazing!

The story is really fantastic. The Last Of us is a game (I played it myself) and they did so much the same. The plot twist is very good. There are several and they are all good! The cast is really perfect. Pedro and Bella have so much fun together and that is reflected in the series! I also really liked that the people who played Ellie and Joël in the game also had a role in the series! The characters are so much fun. Joel is a guy who is quite cold but who really warms up to Ellie. Ellie is a really cool chick! The series is really fantastically made. Very little was made without the computer, but what was made with the computer was done fantastically!

TLOU walked so that Fallout & more can run
MilesMcfly5 June 2024
This series cleared the way for more great storytelling by adapting videogame-storys.

There's been a little history with videogame to movie adaptations. This history is mainly driven by moneyhungry producers who just wanted to earn money by using names of beloved videogames like Mortal Combat, Far Cry & more. While the new Halo-series shows this is still a thing, The last of us brings some fresh air into the business. Not only by truly sticking to the source material, but also by using the starpower of Pedro Pascal ( I mean, this man owns the Daddy-Meme now.)

Altough i love the game, and maybe i'm nitpicking here, i expected a little more from the series. This was ( at most parts ) a 1 on 1 adaptation. And i guess thats what most of the fans wanted, but for me this could've been a great opportunity to give the whole story even more depth. This whole series felt a little rushed in some way ( making sense, if you think about it: If you cut the gameplay out of the whole experience, of course it feels kinda short.)

Nevertheless, the story is still a great one, and i can't wait for the next season ( Hoping they add some new storyparts here and there).

A thrilling experience.
AgentPhoenixxx8 April 2024
The Last of Us is a zombie tv series based on a popular video game. There's no context needed, the directors did an excellent job making this for everyone.

It's very high quality with excellent cinematography and music that sets the gritty tone. From the very first scene you know exactly what you're getting and the suspense is built throughout the show masterfully. The actors brings so much life and emotion to the table with truly captivating performances.

The only major pitfall of this first season is that the third episode takes a detour and doesn't advance the plot, while it does effectively show life during the apocalypse the time could have been used better.

The Last of Us is extremely high quality and deserves all the praise it's getting. If it continues this suspense and focus on morality in the second season then it's looking like an all time great.

Give us more!
luxinfinity-8198314 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
As a middle aged woman, the last of my thoughts was to watch a zombie movie but then, I stumbled into this and I got instantly hooked. Every single character is unique and visibly broken, after all is a post apocalyptic movie so it makes perfect sense unlike the avalanche of cheap horror movies where they all look healthy and with their hair always in place. The atmosphere is so depressing that the pain of every single character is almost palpable. Joel and Ellie did an outstanding job in showing their fear and anger but so did the other characters. This is not a zombie story though the undead are like that due to a virulent pandemic infection. When global tragedies like that happens, the true nature of a human is revealed. At the very beginning, Joel is running away by car with his daughter and his brother, along the way they see a family of 3 with a little child desperately asking for help but Joel refuses to help them thus condemning them to certain death at night in a place crowling with infected. It may be a coincidence or fate but soon after he will have to experience the death of his own daughter. This series is a journey into rock bottom feelings yet, when you are lost in the darkness seek for the light. A masterpiece in every single aspect: thank you for giving us this. I want more!

Some will like it and some won't.
Supermanfan-1321 April 2024
I actually understand why some people love the show and some people don't like it. For me...I thought The Last of Us was one of the best new shows of the year. I never played the game so I wasn't really sure what to expect going in. I then saw the trailer and read all the great reviews so my expectations rose even more. Well, it not only met those expectations but surpassed them in every way. Pedro Pascal has to be one of the most underrated actors on the planet. He's terrific in everything he's ever done and this is no different. He carries the show again. The rest of the cast is great as well, Bella Ramsey, who play the girl Ellie, has a bright future ahead of her. I hope they make of bunch of seasons (as long as the quality stays the same).

Disappointing
inc-133-700135 April 2023
"You come at the king, you best not miss", a line from HBO's "The Wire" was what's repeating in my head while I watched this.

As a TV show in itself, It's not exactly bad. It's probably quite a bit better than usual gruel we get from streaming platforms.

But it went after a bar that's way too high for it. It follows the story of the game pretty closely, even re-enacting memorable scenes down to camera angles, such as when protagonists first saw the overtaken city and such. It changes story here and there, but often it works quite well. I don't mind Sarah being... different. I don't mind re-imagining how things went here or there. I actually quite like little flashbacks/whatever scenes about stuff that builds the story or explains the lore, but wasn't in the game. It's all good.

As long as the core premise holds. But it doesn't. I do buy Pedro Pascal, he looks like Joel, pretty much walks and talks like Joel, and feels right. But Bella Ramsey can't deliver Ellie. And it's not even her fault. Sure, she looks quite... off... and doesn't really come off or feel like a 14-year old (because she's not), but main problem is the aggressive, clueless script she's given.

Story of "Last of Us", the game that won uncountable awards, was about a strong man coping with extreme loss, and a scared girl trying to get close to him, while slowly opening up and showing she's pretty capable on her own.

Story of "Last of US", the HBO show, I'm not sure. Ellie in this one isn't a scared, suspicious, lonely girl trying to survive. Her very first scenes are full of cursing and gritting of teeth, she's a total badass with zero explanation to this, and goes more aggressive by every episode. The main theme just never comes through. Rather than someone Joel grows to love and care for as his own child, I keep wondering when he's going to dump her in the wilderness.

Or to put it simply, they tried to add girl power where none was needed (because game had more than enough), and totally overdid it, killing the main premise.

Which makes this entire show waste of time, because highly superior medium, telling that story times better, already exists.

Play the game. Skip this show.

Feels as natural as possible.
Lukasmj26 March 2024
First of all, I would like to say that I have never played the games and therefore cannot make any comparisons.

But that was not a problem at all. You can understand the series completely even if you have not played the games.

The first thing that caught my eye were the incredibly beautiful and detailed sets. Even though you can clearly see here and there that some things were done with a the computer, that does not take away from the atmosphere of the series at all.

The other thing that struck me as very positive was how natural the relationships and dialogues felt.

The relationship between Elli and Joel in particular felt more real than I have rarely seen in a series.

The acting was also good. I already knew Pedro Pascal and therefore expected him to do well, which he did without question.

I had not heard of Bella Ramsey before, so I did not know what to expect, but her performance really blew me away. She did her role damn well and I am convinced that she has a successful future in acting ahead of her.

Peak TV
saurabhg8021 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This series combines the apotheosis of each facet of TV story telling.

I felt the distinct superiority the series enjoys over most contemporaries in all areas. It does every thing better. It is the Usain Bolt, Don Bradman, Djokovic, Schumacher, Tiger Woods (take your pick) of tv.

Each department head is a master in their game. And the story is complex. Deep. Tender at the core but vicious, down right evil at times.

It shocks, awes, moves, tickles and eventually has you begging for more.

The camera movements are just the right shape and size. No angle wasted. Creates immediacy. Can't blink for a second.

The colour palette I found intriguing. It's a post apocalyptic world full of zombies but even the fungus infecting the zombies manifests as almost designer , floral , colourful patterns. There is beauty in horror. Even the cannibals we see in e8 have some earnestness about them. And the leader some charisma.

The plot itself (an ex con ushering an important girl across strife- invested US) is an odyssey where they encounter a host of people. Each encounter and the subsequent journey offers up interesting characters , plot development , twists etc. And the twists are really gnarly. They change the complete story arc and the relative values we had assigned to various elements in the story.

In a lawless and moral less world , what form does the basic survival instincts take. What really are the basic instincts. What is good. What is bad. What is evil. Who judges it all. Where really is god.

Who do you sympathise with. And till when.

What is a good outcome. What is a bad outcome.

What is common to all ? What sets some apart.

Are just some questions I tossed in my mind while watching LOU.

Specifically , episodes 8 and 9 are the best TV episodes I have seen in a long, long time. A couple of average episodes too but not too bad.

This is story telling done right. A series to remember in a glut of above average but trite or formulaic works. Per do and Bella are brilliant and so is the supporting cast.

A Riveting Apocalyptic Tale
camposcetinamauricio11 March 2024
"The Last of Us" makes its mark as a gripping adaptation of the renowned video game series, offering a fresh perspective on the apocalyptic genre. As someone unfamiliar with the games, I approached the series with curiosity, and I was pleasantly surprised by its immersive storytelling and compelling characters.

The first episode sets a high bar, immediately drawing viewers into its world and establishing an emotional connection. From the informative yet understated prologue to the brilliant opening sequences, the episode captivates with its cinematic quality and pacing.

Throughout the episode, we are introduced to a diverse cast of characters, each with their own strengths and flaws. Pedro Pascal shines as the lead, bringing a sense of familiarity and trustworthiness to his role. Meanwhile, Bella Ramsey, known for her role in Game of Thrones, delivers a performance that is less wooden and more nuanced, promising an engaging character arc.

Despite being only one episode in, "The Last of Us" shows immense potential, earning a solid rating of 9 out of 10. However, the true test lies in whether the series can maintain this standard and narrative coherence throughout its run.

The series distinguishes itself by blending elements from various apocalyptic stories, resulting in a unique and multifaceted narrative. It seamlessly transitions between action, thriller, drama, suspense, and even humor, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.

What sets "The Last of Us" apart is its exploration of complex human emotions and ethical dilemmas in the face of catastrophe. Characters grapple with questions of morality, survival instinct, and the value of human life, blurring the lines between heroes and villains.

At its core, the series delves into the bond between Joel and Ellie, evolving into a father-daughter relationship defined by sacrifice and protection. Their journey challenges viewers to consider the lengths they would go to for the ones they love, even at the expense of humanity itself.

With its rich storytelling, dynamic characters, and thought-provoking themes, "The Last of Us" offers a profound exploration of human nature in the midst of chaos. It stands alongside acclaimed apocalyptic series like The Walking Dead and Black Mirror, earning a rating of 8.5 out of 10.

Overall, "The Last of Us" proves to be a standout addition to the genre, delivering a compelling narrative that resonates with both gamers and television enthusiasts alike. As the series continues to garner praise and accolades, it solidifies its place as a must-watch for fans of gripping storytelling and immersive world-building.

"The Last of Us" (2023-) is a gripping and emotive television series adapted from the critically acclaimed video game of the same name. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the series follows Joel, a hardened survivor, who is tasked with the critical mission of escorting a young girl, Ellie, across a ravaged United States. The narrative explores themes of survival, loyalty, and the painful choices one must make in a world overrun by infected humans and societal collapse. As they journey together, the bond between Joel and Ellie deepens, unfolding against a backdrop of relentless danger and the faint hope for a cure. This series is praised for its profound storytelling, character development, and its ability to retain the intense atmosphere of the beloved game.

JUSTINMK1144 April 2024
It is very good but not as good as the games PS5 feel like a more valent movie.

The way they did it is good I hope there will be a Days Gone movie ..

there is a lot to the game of the last of us that is not in the show if you like the show, you should play the game.

Part 2 or season 2 may be darker and a lot of people ask why.

But I hope the part 2 season 2 is good too like the game good actors so far.

Sony does put out some really good stuff.

I need more part 3 the game would be nice too.

The demand is very strong for the last of us... Maybe when the show is over, they can take their time and make a movie ...

great series
kramerthecat3 June 2024
The extraordinary success of the series is a testament to the skill of its creators and the required (and growing) correlation between the worlds of gaming and television. But the increased worker in it, the dimensions of the cause to the environment, are more than anything the testimony of some of us who are constantly anticipating something, to belong to one big global community - one that gathers around foci of the "last of us" kind, dabbles in them until thin, and then moves on to the next thing that will become a cultural reality. , until he also vacates his place. Can "The Last of Us" reach the heights of works of the "Game of Thrones" genre, which has weakened the cultural discourse for almost a decade? We will find that out, but for now, let her - and yourselves - enjoy the moment. Nevertheless, at any moment the world can jump into a fungal apocalypse, so it's a waste of every second.

Honors the Source Material
michaelscottbamford14 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I love the Last of Us video games. I love the story of those games dearly, played them as they were released.

So I was cautiously optimistic when this show was announced. HBO is easily the best network producing narrative fiction on TV so that gave me confidence. But then again, they have their misfires as well.

I'm happy to say that this show exceeded my expectations! It captured the spirit of the original story very well and allowed me to recapture the feelings I felt playing the game all those years ago.

The best thing about the show is how phenomenal the production is. The VFX, makeup, costumes, production design, creature designs, editing, cinematography, and music are all absolutely fantastic. Many of these elements are recreations of designs and ideas from the original game but the original game is so perfect, I'm happy they decided to faithfully realize it in beautiful fashion. HBO proves yet again that they are committed to next level quality in television in a way that no other studio has managed to match.

As far as how the story and characters land I'll say it's a mostly faithful adaptation where there are a few changes to the original story. Which is great because the original game's story is absolute perfection. In terms of its changes, some work a little better than others. I loved the expanded role of Bill and his lover. Their love story was really touching and surprisingly effective at fleshing out the themes of the story. Another strong change was how Henry and his brother were adapted. Henry's brother being deaf and so much younger made him even more immediately sympathetic. The added material in the first episode fleshing out Sarah and Joel's life before the outbreak was a completely natural and warranted change that I loved.

My only gripes are that I don't like some of the casting decisions. Pedro Pascal is perfect as Joel, different than in the game but in a good way and the original actress for Marlene was surprisingly fantastic in the show. Whereas Bella Ramsay never really won me fully over. She's somehow less likable and charming than Ellie in the original game. She doesn't have the charisma that the original Ellie had and her bad attitude feels less like a mask and defense mechanism and more like an attitude problem. I also, wasn't really feeling the actress who played Tess although that may be a result of her relationship/chemistry with Joel feeling somewhat underdeveloped. And I actually think the actresses for Kathleen and Riley were genuinely terrible casting choices. Kathleen's actress just didn't fit the menacing and violent nature of her character. She was unconvincing as the terrifying, ruthless leader she was meant to portray. And Riley's actress just wasn't believable in her performance at all. Her performance felt like a school play to me.

In fact, that was easily my least favorite part of the whole show. Ellie and Riley's relationship being fleshed out takes away from Ellie finally spilling her guts about it in the end. Plus I think the way it was executed lacked emotion, believability, and basic logical consistency.

But apart from that, I loved this show. I'm happy it introduced this story to a whole new demographic of people. Highly recommend this one.

Wel here I am struggling across the post apocalyptic world and I am only on episode 3 ! Pedro Pascal is obviously really fantastic in this series..He always seems to have a dead pan way of delivering his lines which is almost compulsory with the hero character.. Bella Ramsey is absolutely brilliant and is a great at making her character really believable. I have never played the game but as a standalone TV series this show hods it's own really easily. I always try to review films or TV shows I have watched without giving away any plots , hopefully I have succeeded with this one .If you haven't seen The Last Of Us then do because it's really worth spending your time on .. A Masterful Ode to Survival and Humanity
uthpalagamage22 May 2024
The Last of Us" TV series emerges not just as an adaptation but as a masterclass in storytelling that transcends its origins. Pedro Pascal's portrayal of Joel and Bella Ramsey's embodiment of Ellie are nothing short of revelatory, breathing life into characters beloved by gamers and newcomers alike.

From the outset, it's evident that every frame of this series is crafted with care and reverence for the source material. The meticulous attention to detail, from the haunting landscapes to the intimate character moments, creates an immersive experience that lingers long after the credits roll.

While some may quibble over deviations from the game's narrative, these departures serve to enrich the storytelling, offering fresh insights and emotional depth that resonate on a profound level. The chemistry between Pascal and Ramsey is palpable, driving home the series' central themes of love, sacrifice, and the resilience of the human spirit.

Visually stunning and thematically resonant, "The Last of Us" is a triumph of adaptation that honors the legacy of the game while forging its own path. It's a testament to the power of storytelling to inspire, provoke, and ultimately connect us to our shared humanity.

I've come to realize this show isn't for everyone
Rob133113 April 2024
I had to change my rating score after giving this show some more thought. Even though my brother and I both really enjoyed this, I've come to realize that maybe this show isn't for everyone therefore I lowered my score. If I thought everyone would like this the way we did then I would've left my rating at a 9 but I think a 7 is more accurate after seeing some mixed reviews. The following is my initial review for me personally and anyone else who like these type of shows...The Last of Us definitely lives up to all the hype around it. Considering there are a thousand zombie/post apocalyptic shows to choose from, one would have to be really good and stick out from the rest to put in the time to watch. Well, The Last of Us is definitely that show. It's not only good, but one of the best zombie/ post apocalyptic shows to some out in the last few years. It seems that most agree based off all the terrific reviews from both critics and the audience alike. It's also been nominated for just about every award possible. The show itself was just nominated for a bunch of Emmy's including best drama, Pedro Pascal was nominated for best lead actor, Bella Ramsey for best lead actress, Nick Offerman, Murray Barnett and Lamar Johnson for best guest actor, Melanie Lynskey, Anna Torv and Storm Reid for best guest actress, best ensemble cast, best directing, best writing, etc. So, as you can see it's a great show. HBO has had so many great shows over the years, too many to even name, and it looks like The Last of Us is the next great one. Can't wait to see where this show goes next.

What was the purpose of the show?
halcyonedit19 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This show suffers from a contrived setup and a lack of direction for the main storyline.

The creators really embraced the "tell don't show" approach. This is especially evident in the last episode. In the matter of a couple of episodes, Joel went from "I don't need you" to "I will slaughter innocent people for you". When did that happen, did I miss something? There's a time gap between the events of the last two episodes; why not take this opportunity to demonstrate how the bond between Joel and Ellie grows in the aftermath of the previous episode? When it comes to the finale as a whole, it seemed that the writers had no clear understanding of what they wanted to do with it, so they threw in random bits of conversations and interactions that are so disjointed it's frustrating to watch. The tension or suspense that should have been there is rarely present. The subject of the infected is barely touched upon. From what I gathered, they are pretty scarce and don't pose a big threat to others.

They spent an unforgivably long amount of time as they delved into exploring this jumble of supporting characters, only to have them all killed at the end of each episode. None of the significant scenes and dialogues were given time to really sink in, looking like a series of checkpoints, something which was better executed in the game.

The only light in this never ending darkness is the actors, especially Pedro Pascal. However, the series on the whole is pretty superficial, mainly because the screenplay had no clear direction.

Great first episode
eve_dolluk16 January 2023
***" Update after watching the full series ****

Well I think overall Id give this a 7 or 8, the opening episode was definitely a 9 the rest of the show would be getting either 7 or 8s depending on how appealing they were to me.

Everything was well made, well acted, well shot etc. The brutality of it all was maintained throughout. I watched some of the game footage on you tube and there is a lot here that is identical to the game so thats a plus for fans of the game plus it works for a TV show so kudos to the game makers.

The story and overlying themes are very simple and relate to parenting and how we protect our children or the young.

It could have had more Cordyceps and more action in places but this was more of a drama surrounding the struggles of a broken world.

Overall ill give it an 8 out of 10 a very good Tv Show that stays loyal to its source and was very well produced.

**** Update *******

Ill start by saying I've never played the games, I've no idea how true to the source it is.

The first episode was very impressive, they told hold back here and emotionally you are involved quite early on.

The prologue was informative but understated, The opening was brilliant and as good as anything you would see in a movie.

The middle section is good and paced well to provide enough information going forward as to the objective the players and whats happened to the world outside.

The episode ends at the start of an adventure.... I hope this quality remains throughout the show so the adventure is as good as the opening ( a hard act to follow ).

Ive enjoyed the characters so far, not all likeable but our lead Pedro Pascal is familiar and trustworthy and does a good job. Bella Ramsey of Game of Thrones fame plays the female lead, I really hated her in Game of Thrones, her acting is a bit less wooden here so I hope I don't end up hating her in this. So far she has been fine.

Its only 1 episode but its probably a 9 out of 10. I would be shocked if they can keep up this sort of standard and narrative throughout the series. Having said that there is plenty of scope for some interesting scenes. Im not a big fan of Zombie films or shows but can find them entertaining. ( I found Black Summer S2 brilliant )

I hope this doesn't turn out to be just another zombie show.

9/10 ( Ep1)

Games vs TV Show
daan-501888 April 2024
I played both games before watching this TV show.

Normally I was a multilayer gamer but I gave these games a go as they scored high and they didn't disappoint me.

I stopped gaming and this is the second time I'm watching it. I gotta say I like it better than the first time.

Soon after I played the games if not playing the second game simultaneous, I watched the show.

The game is that good that I compared it to the show and for the show it's hard to compete.

I had to get used to the actors, but also I knew where the story went which was less exciting. Now after months knowing what series are out there and having the storyline less in my mind, this one is a perl and deserves a a good score.

A real show, perfect as the video game
SamuSixx18 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
We are faced with the best (for now) film adaptation of a video game, what we have in front of is literally the video game in every way. Let's analyze this series calmly, first of all we can say that the music is well suited, from goosebumps and especially often music becomes a "secondary character"I was particularly impressed by the use of music in the final scene in the hospital where Joel massacres everyone. The cast is perfect even if Bella Ramsey say that not very similar to Ellie, but despite this we say that there is not too much lingering. While the rest of the cast is simply stellar as if the characters of the video game had come out to appear in the series. On the plot there is nothing to say, simply majestic as the video game, well adapted and faithful to the video game product. Now let's talk about the thing that would have worried me most and that is the realization of the infected, absurdly these monsters are made too much but really too well, I was amazed by the quality of this series. This series is a spectacle for the eyes with brilliant shots and breathtaking settings. I have only one concern at the moment, I'm afraid I'm not ready to see THAT scene in season 2, now we are all too attached.

A Great show and adaptation
gehards31 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Usually video game adaptions are rubbish (resident evil, sonic) And it isn't as good as naughty dog's spectacular digital, virtual adventure (which I actually played after I saw the show) the headline said it all. The Last of Us is one of my favourite dramatic emotional tv shows spanning about ten, hour long episodes each gripping and authentic- quite thought provoking diving deep into different points and topics. Very Immersive. It's a bit slow paced for a post apocalyptic outlast though with lost of boring dialouge especiallyfor a VIDEOGAME ADAPTION. It's not a far fetched, chaotic apocalypse, more of a ruin of an aftermath as the result of a fascinating and terrifyingly real fungal infection (ophiocordyceps) terrifyingly manipulating the body. It compares to the walking dead and 28 days later but In my opinion it trumps them all, gripping you in dark and gritty emotion with quirks and twists that have you sympathize with the characters. The father daughter relationship between Joel and Ellie is just spectacular. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey really portrayed the classic video game protagonists so well. The grizzly old man, lost in the past of the outbreak and ellie the curious, feisty 14 year old, cute but dangerous. It really stays true to the game. Even an episode based upon its prequel dlc, left behind and one focused on bill and his relationship which feels awkward but key. The awesome, unique infected which I was excited to see only showed up once or twice in the most generic forms which disappointed me quite a bit. Though the bloater looked great! Bit I love the drunken, antagonistic humans. And David was a great villain, a strangely real obsession with ellie and appearance who shows up at the darkest times. It just shows the terror of cannibalism and what a global pandemic can do to human kind. It shows that the real monster are - well the flesh eating infected but you know also humanity itself which really makes you wonder if man deserves to survive or if nature itself should just take over completely. But I do think it really just shifts its focus to the survivors which is interesting but a bit boring sometimes. The end was great too. It just shows the bleak, depressing impact and story. She could've saved the world, the last hope and he chose the flip side. All this for that. That's the powerful, most moving part. Then you look at all their backstories. The sad and rightful deaths. Then the swear - the lie. Since the sequel successor, part II was amazing (though I didnt agree storywise) I'm definitely hype for season two.
