The original Daredevil series aired on Netflix in 2015 and chronicled the narrative of Matt Murdock, played by Charlie Cox, as he tried to balance his life as a lawyer and as Daredevil. Despite its critical praise and great viewership, the show was discontinued in 2018 after three seasons.

The show was finally brought to Disney+ once Marvel regained control of the rights. This gave the MCU an excellent opportunity to develop Daredevil: Born Again.
However, for a variety of reasons, the original version of the show was scrapped and reworked. In a recent interview, Cox expressed his appreciation for the MCU, but it also raised one significant point.

Marvel had a rough year in 2023. Many of its properties underperformed, and they lost their big villain due to Jonathan Majors being fired. Looking forward to their upcoming slate, comic fans have been excited about some of the studio’s projects over the next few years. Will these films help Marvel regain control? The upcoming Thunderbolts film has been one that fanboys have been hoping to see since the MCU started. With some recent news about the property coming up, it seems like the right time to break down what we know about the production.
Who Are The Thunderbolts?
The team first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1997 in an issue of The Incredible Hulk. They seemed to be a new group of superheroes that had arrived on the scene and gained acclaim very quickly. The reader was informed that the group was actually a group of supervillains led by Baron Zemo.

Welp. One point goes to Sentry while the other goes to The Void (will talk about it later). Meanwhile, rumors have begun to circulate that The Sentry will allegedly be nerfed in the upcoming MCU film Thunderbolts*!
The Sentry | Marvel Comics
Hundreds of comic book characters follow the “no-kill rule”. It’s a convoluted concept that is quite difficult to understand but roughly translates to “Don’t kill anyone”. Well, rumors state that The Sentry will follow the no-kill rule in Thunderbolts*, and fans are confused.
The Sentry Will Follow The Rule That Zack Snyder Hates
There’s a certain happiness found when merging and comparing Marvel and the Dceu/Dcu. In the DC Comics, Batman and Superman have a no-kill rule that they follow with their whole heart.

‘Thunderbolts*’ is among the upcoming projects slated for a 2025 release. While it may not garner the same level of anticipation as the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot or ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ early rumors suggest it holds promise as the launch of a thrilling new franchise.
Set to introduce a team reminiscent of DC’s Suicide Squad, ‘Thunderbolts*’ is also rumored to unveil a new organization led by Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the role of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
Bucky Barnes, Ava Starr, John Walker, Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, and Taskmaster are expected to join the team based on current information. Notably, most of them lack significant power, especially when compared to Sentry.
Sentry, portrayed by Lewis Pullman, will indeed feature in the movie, a controversial choice given his immense power in Marvel comics. This casting decision has been a focal point of criticism, as it pits enhanced humans against one of Marvel’s most formidable characters.

‘Thunderbolts*’ is just one of many upcoming projects scheduled to be released in 2025. Even though the movie doesn’t generate as much hype as ‘The Fantastic Four’ reboot or ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ so far if the rumors are true it does have the potential to be an exciting start of a new franchise.
We know that ‘Thunderbolts*’ will introduce a new team to the MCU, one similar to DC’s Suicide Squad, but according to the most recent rumors, it’s also going to introduce a new organization helmed by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Bucky Barnes, Ava Starr, John Walker, Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, and Taskmaster are some of the members expected to be a part of the team according to everything we know, and so you can notice, most of them aren’t that powerful, at least not powerful enough to stand up to Sentry.

There's a lot of excitement for The Sentry's MCU debut in Thunderbolts* next year, particularly as the character could be a game-changer for this franchise moving forward.
He is, after all, one of the Marvel Universe's most powerful superheroes and supervillains, with the unhinged Robert Reynolds heading down the latter route when his alter-ego, The Void, takes control.
Lewis Pullman is playing The Sentry in Thunderbolts* and we now have some rumoured new details about his role in the movie.
According to scooper Daniel Richtman, there's a "good explanation" for why he doesn't just kill the likes of Yelena Belova and Bucky Barnes when they run into him. The Sentry, who no doubt views himself as a hero, supposedly has a no-kill rule, meaning he "just kicks their asses."
As for exactly how powerful the McU's Sentry will be, Richtman claims he's, "Superman-level strong."

Black Widow star David Harbour has taken to Instagram to confirm he's wrapped shooting on Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts*. The actor has also shared what appears to be a vintage propaganda poster featuring Red Guardian at the height of the Cold War.

When will the Black Panther return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Letitia Wright took over the eponymous superhero role from her late co-star Chadwick Boseman in Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” which grossed a mighty $860 million in fall 2022, but the studio has yet to put a “Black Panther 3” on its release calendar or confirm that Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther is featured in the next “Avengers” movies.
“Let’s just say … I would like to continue with Shuri,” Wright recently said on “The View” when asked about Shuri appearing in the new “Avengers” movies. “She’s one of my favorite characters. Such a blessing, honestly. I kid you not, I’m so grateful for her.”
When pressed about “Black Panther 3,” Wright answered: “There’s a lot to, a lot to — a lot coming up.”
That’s all Wright could disclose for now about her Marvel future. Back in January...

It was recently revealed that Marvel is heading back to Hall H at Comic-Con after the strikes last year canceled some of the usual panels. While there are a bevy of projects that the studio can give updates on, like Captain America: Brave New World or Thunderbolts, one popular title that’s moving forward quickly in development is The Fantastic Four. Marvel revealed artwork this year to announce its casting and the look of the art had an extremely retro vibe, which gave fans the impression that the new reboot will possibly take place in a past decade.
Deadline has revealed that Kevin Feige has confirmed on The Official Marvel Podcast that The Fantastic Four is indeed a period film. He would also hint at another detail about its setting.
It is a period film, and there was another piece of art we released with Johnny Storm flying in the air making a 4 symbol.

Last year's San Diego Comic-Con was a forgettable affair because Hollywood had ground to a halt amid the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
While DC Studios' James Gunn has already confirmed he'll be missing the event, Deadline reports that Marvel Studios will attend the annual convention with a splashy Hall H panel.
This year's Comic-Con takes place between July 25 - July 28...which just so happens to be Deadpool & Wolverine's opening weekend.
The trade has no intel on what we might see, though Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will surely show up to get fans excited about their threequel. An appearance from The Fantastic Four cast - led by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach - also can't be discounted.
With Agatha All Along set to premiere on September 18, a trailer for that Disney+ series seems likely. We'd also be shocked if Marvel Studios doesn't share something from...

It's become obvious in recent weeks that it will take a miracle for Blade to meet its November 7, 2025 release date. Disney has also confirmed that only three MCU movies will be released a year moving forward, meaning 2025 will likely belong to Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four.
The latter hasn't even started shooting yet, leading to fears among fans that the reboot will slip from July and take Blade's place in November.
Now, though, we have a positive update from Human Torch actor Joseph Quinn. "I can’t say anything, they will come for the people I care about," he began before adding, "Gladiator is finished, that’s done. It was an amazing experience and we are about to start 'Fantastic Four' in the end of July."

Marvel Studios' Blade recently lost a second director in Yann Demange, prompting a fresh round of speculation about why Kevin Feige and company simply can't get this long-awaited movie - first announced in 2019 - into theaters.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, both sides are to have grown frustrated with Blade's prolonged development process, with the Daywalker himself, Mahershala Ali, said to be "increasingly frustrated" with the situation.
The trade explains that he handpicked Demange after Bassam Tariq walked away from Blade in September 2022. At the time, the movie had been in pre-production and was gearing up to start shooting two months later.
Marvel Studios decided Tariq wasn't a good fit and, after presenting Ali with a list of possible directors, executives were surprised when the Oscar-winner "conducted his own search after having concerns that the list largely featured filmmakers who were untested at the big studio level."

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, has confirmed that Thunderbolts* "just wrapped last week."
While reshoots are undoubtedly on the horizon, this is welcome news considering it wasn't too long ago when members of the cast openly admitted they had no idea when production would begin. Of course, last year's strikes played a role in that, and Marvel Studios now has just shy of a year to get Thunderbolts* where they want it.
Similar to other recent interviews, Louis-Dreyfus refused to give any plot details away or reveal what the deal is with that asterisk.
The actress did say she, "Loved [the production]," adding: "I got to work with really cool people, who we already know are in the film. Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Lewis Pullman, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell. It was pretty dreamy."
Elsewhere in her conversation with Josh Horowitz, Louis-Dreyfus looked back at being enlisted for this MCU role.

What a difference a movie makes…

In the wake of Inside Out 2’s massive $295M worldwide debut last weekend, Disney Head of Global Theatrical Distribution Tony Chambers kicked off the studio’s CineEurope presentation this evening thanking exhibitors in attendance for their part in the historic start — and was met in kind by enthusiastic and clearly appreciative applause. He noted too that midweek numbers have been “nothing short of phenomenal” with the global total now $380M through Tuesday.
Continued Chambers, “Everyone doubled down on their efforts to make this an out-and-out hit and every single market, every single exhibitor, and every single partner across the globe delivered this weekend.”
This was ahead of a jam-packed session that included looks at such anticipated titles as Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*; 20th Century’s Alien: Romulus; and Disney Animation’s Moana 2.

Disney landed at the CineEurope trade show on Wednesday riding wave of goodwill from across the industry thanks to the outstanding success of its latest release “Inside Out 2.”
Before their slate presentation to European exhibitors on Wednesday — the final show from the major studios — the Pixar sequel had already shattered records with a global opening weekend total of $295 million, the biggest opening of the year to date, the biggest ever for an animated movie worldwide and the highest animated opening internationally of all time (at $140.8 million).
But as Disney’s head of global theatrical distribution Tony Chambers revealed on stage, the more recent “Inside Out 2” figures gave the company — which had been receiving praise all week from the other studios in their presentations — even more reason to smile, the worldwide total now sitting at $380 million thanks to Tuesday’s record breaking box office.

With regard to upcoming projects, Marvel Studios is renowned for taking enormous pains to maintain as many secrets as possible. As a prominent figure in the forthcoming flick Thunderbolts*, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who will be reprising her role as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, can attest to this.
Fresh off the MCU’s eminent stages of Black Widow and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the actress is all set to grace the big screen in Jake Schreier’s much-anticipated 2025 release. You must be unaware, though, of how a very casual chat helped her land a role in the MCU.

Deadpool & Wolverine is Marvel Studios' only 2024 movie; had last year's Hollywood strikes not happened, then the Merc with the Mouth and Logan would have been joined by Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*.
Instead, those now join The Fantastic Four in 2025 (along with Blade - Lol) and the pressure is on the Deadpool threequel to "save" the McU's Multiverse Saga.
Talking to Total Film, Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy commented on the pressure that places on this movie. "We had no idea it would be this unique moment where people are asking what the MCU means any more," the filmmaker says. "Can it surprise us? Can it break molds in ways that we don't expect? We certainly hope that this movie is an answer to those questions."

We've heard various bits and pieces about Deadpool & Wolverine breaking minor ticket-selling records, but Marvel Studios' first R-Rated movie has finally hit box office tracking boards.
According to Deadline, six weeks ahead of the threequel's release, it's eyeing a massive $200 million - $239 million opening weekend. However, The Quorum (which monitors tracking) believes this is a "conservative" estimate.
As the trade rightly points out, an R-Rated movie has never opened to as much as $200 million before; in fact, the current record is held by the first Deadpool movie. In 2016, it debuted with $132.4 million, but Deadpool & Wolverine will almost certainly top that number.
That R-Rating is going to reduce the number of people who watch the movie in theaters, but the vast majority of chains allow children under 17 to watch titles with that rating providing they're accompanied by an adult who is above the age of 21.
The report later explains,...

Yesterday, news broke that ‘Thunderbolts’ has finished filming. The movie’s development faced challenges due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which halted many projects and even led to some being canceled. Luckily, ‘Thunderbolts’ managed to recover and started filming in February this year.
Shortly after filming began, Florence Pugh accidentally revealed the new logo and title in a set video for fans, showing the title with an asterisk. At CinemaCon, Feige confirmed that ‘Thunderbolts*’ is the official title, but said the meaning of the asterisk will be revealed when the movie comes out.
Several theories have emerged about the meaning, but a strange Wikipedia entry on the ‘Thunderbolts*’ page might put these rumors to rest.

Director Yann Demange has exited Marvel Studios’ long-anticipated reboot of Blade, Deadline has confirmed.
Attached to the film since 2019, when he joined Marvel chief Kevin Feige at San Diego Comic-Con to roll out the project, Mahershala Ali remains aboard to star, we’re told.
Sources stressed that Demange’s exit from the project was entirely amicable, though it signals perhaps another delay on Blade‘s path back to screens. Initially prepping for production in fall 2022 before the exit of director Bassam Tariq, the project again faced delays last year amid the writers’ strike.
Marvel veteran Eric Pearson is writing the new Blade, which is slated for release on November 7, 2025. Today’s Blade news comes at a time when Marvel has begun recalibrating, lifting the pressure to produce as much content as possible with a new mandate of two films per year. Another one bites the dust.
Filmmaker Yann Demange (“Lovecraft Country”) is no longer set to direct “Blade,” Marvel Studios’ long-in-the-works reboot of the vampire superhero franchise set to star Mahershala Ali. This is the second director to leave the project; Bassam Tariq (“Mogul Mowgli”) exited the production in 2022.
Insiders say Demange departed the film amicably weeks ago, as development on the project has stretched over multiple years. Screenwriter Eric Pearson, who co-wrote “The Fantastic Four” for Marvel, is the latest scribe to take on the “Blade” script, after at least five other writers have taken passes on the film, including Michael Green, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, Beau DeMayo and Nic Pizzolatto.
While Marvel has not officially moved “Blade” off of its Nov. 7, 2025, release date, it is looking increasingly unlikely that the project will be able to start production in time to make that date. The next four Marvel films on...

Blade is once again in search of new talent behind the camera. Filmmaker Yann Demange has exited the long-gestating project, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The departure is described as amicable and happened some time ago. It’s the latest in a number of creative challenges for the project, which Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige announced to fanfare at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 when he surprised the crowd by bringing out star Mahershala Ali, and presenting him with a Blade cap.
Blade was preparing to go into production in the fall of 2022 when director Bassam Tariq exited over creative differences. Then, sources say, Ali handpicked Lovecraft Country helmer Demange to direct, but months later it became one of the major features delayed by the writers strike in May 2023. As of yet, it never made it to production.
Ali remains attached to star in the project, and the studio is not looking to rush the film.

Another day, another setback for Marvel's long-awaited "Blade" reboot. The project was first announced a handful of years ago during the studio's big Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 when Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali came out on stage, revealing he would be playing the character in a new film. Here we are, five years later and nothing has materialized. Now, the project has suffered another major setback as director Yann Demange has departed the film, per The Wrap.
Demange's departure is being framed as an amicable parting of ways. The filmmaker behind films like "White Boy Rick" and "'71" was first announced as the director of "Blade" in 2022, taking over for Bassam Tariq ("Mogul Mowgli"). All eyes now turn to who will be chosen to fill the empty director's chair. If Marvel Studios and Disney intend to keep the film's current November 2025 release date, they will likely need to hire someone in a hurry.

We've been hearing rumblings about a Young Avengers movie or TV show for several years now, with the closest we've come to that being at the end of The Marvels when Ms. Marvel attempted to recruit Kate Bishop/Hawkeye to a team she's started assembling.
However, at this rate, the McU's Young Avengers won't be young for very long!
In a rumour roundup shared by The Cosmic Circus, Alex Perez claims Young Avengers will likely head our way before movies like Scarlet Witch and Thor 5, suggesting Marvel Studios is finally getting serious about bringing these heroes together.
Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how a movie like this fares at the box office, particularly if it's released before Avengers 5.
As for whether the project will finally unite Wiccan and Hulkling, a popular LGBTQ+ couple in the comics, Perez seems confident it's going to happen. "Billy isn’t even the Wiccan yet.

However, the Seinfeld alum was a little more forthcoming while speaking to The New York Times, suggesting that Thunderbolts* might be more character-focused than we expected.

If there’s been one complaint we’ve been hearing for years regarding Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, it’s the overreliance on CGI. Ok, the lack of direction is also a common annoyance, but we will focus on abundant bluescreens. Luckily, it appears that Thunderbolts* may break Marvel’s addiction to computer-generated imagery.
While speaking with The Daily, one of the stars of the upcoming semi-grounded superhero movie said we should expect a more human story focused on people rather than spectacle.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who previously played Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, delivered the good news. In the interview, she said, “They are trying to stay away from [CGI] as much…”
The former Seinfeld star also commented on how the story will be a more character-driven outing, something we’ve only seen done well in the Guardians trilogy:
“They are very much focused on … the humans’ story.

Does this indicate that Val will have a smaller role in the movie than we'd been led to believe? Not necessarily, but she was never likely to have as much screen time as the characters who make up the team, and we're hearing that the movie is scheduled to wrap within the next couple of weeks,...

Within minutes of the actors strike ending on Nov. 9, Ryan Reynolds was making plans to get back to London and the set of Deadpool & Wolverine, one of the many movies shut down in mid-July when the walkout commenced. He and director Shawn Levy were determined to make their July 26 release date, which they were able to accomplish. For other tentpoles, it was too late, and they would ultimately decamp to 2025.
One studio head says the impact of the writers’ walkout, which lasted five months until a settlement was reached on Sept. 27, also played a major role. “Think of it like this — if the actors’ strike shut down the oil refinery, then the writers’ strike shut down the oil fields.”
Toward the end of the SAG-AFTRA talks, studio chiefs were accused of being disingenuous when saying their 2024 release calendars were in danger every day the four-month strike dragged. Now the...

Avengers, re-assemble!
Variety has reported that Shawn Levy, reliable director of “Night at the Museum,” “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian,” and “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” is “in the mix” to helm the next “Avengers” superhero team-up for Marvel. In late July, his promised-to-be-potty-mouthed R-rated “Deadpool & Wolverine” will hit theaters and, clearly, Marvel’s leader, Kevin Feige, liked what he saw.
Marvel is in desperate need of a course correction after some wobbly entries like “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” “The Marvels,” and “Thor: Love and Thunder.” There was once a time when the Marvel opening logo was enough to print money and create cultural resonance, but those days have begun to wane, due in part to a glut of Disney+ streaming shows and the fact that “Avengers: Endgame” really did seem like a nice place to end the story. The word “end...

For a while now, the status of Marvel’s next Avengers movie has been in flux. Back in July 2022, Kevin Feige announced that the Multiverse Saga would offer up two major hero team-up movies: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars. But in the wake of underperforming Phase 4 movies, and Jonathan Majors being dropped as Kang after an assault conviction, the plan changed – The Kang Dynasty is no more, Shang-Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton stepped down from directing to focus on Shang-Chi 2 instead, and little has moved since then.
Until now. Because, according to Deadline, Marvel is eyeing up Shawn Levy as the man to next assemble the Avengers on screen. The filmmaker is currently hard at work in the final stages of Deadpool & Wolverine, which is gearing up to be a real big box office win – and, as a result, Marvel Studios is said to be keen...

With reshoots ongoing on Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World, a ton of new set photos have been surfacing online over the past few days and the latest batch reveals star Anthony Mackie ("Sam Wilson/Captain America") suited up in his classic white-and-blue suit from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, essentially reaffirming that he'll be sporting multiple looks in the eagerly-awaited Marvel blockbuster.
As per a recent report, the additional photography isn't expected to be particularly extensive, and should conclude within another week or two. New action sequences were expected to be added, so based on what we're seeing in these photos, it looks like they might be shooting a new opening for the film, where Mackie sports his first Captain America suit.
He'll also wear a wingless blue-and-red suit in the film, something not too dissimilar from Steve Rogers' stealth suit, but it's not yet clear what...

Following his debut as Helmut Zemo in the 2017 film Captain America: Civil War, Daniel Brühl reprised his role in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier alongside Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie. Zemo, who played a pivotal role in pitting the Avengers against each other, was anticipated to reappear in Thunderbolts*, where he is a key figure in the comics, even serving as the team’s leader.

However, Zemo’s absence from the Marvel’s Thunderbolts* cast announcement was disappointing for many, given his close association with the team in comics. Despite the significant snub, Brühl has remained optimistic, as he expressed confidence about his return to the franchise in a recent interview.

Daniel Brühl made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as a reimagined take on Baron Zemo in Captain America: Civil War, before returning for the Disney+ The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series.
Already a somewhat sympathetic villain given everything he went through in Sokovia during the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Zemo put his differences with Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson aside in Tfatws to help them put a stop to the Flag Smashers - though he always had his own schemes in play.
Last we saw of him, he had agreed to return to The Raft to finish out his sentence for killing King T'Chaka in an attempt to frame Barnes for a terrorist attack.
When a Thunderbolts (since retitled Thunderbolts*) movie was announced, it was assumed that Zemo would be involved since he is so closely associated with the supervillain strike team in the comics. Marvel Studios went in a different direction,...
