Kate Siegel has faced plenty of threats – supernatural and otherwise – in her collaborations with husband Mike Flanagan, which include Oculus, Hush, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Gerald’s Game, The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, and The Fall of the House of Usher. Now Deadline reports that she’s set to face the biggest bad of all, as she’ll be taking on the devil himself in the dark comedy Damned If You Do!
The feature directorial debut of the filmmaking duo of Jake Rubin and Evan Metzold, who are working from a screenplay written by Ellen Adair and Eric Gilde, Damned If You Do will follow a group of teenage friends who sold their souls to the devil. Naturally, life grants them different paths: a rock star, a tech mogul, and a high-profile activist. Years later, they must rely on an old classmate to try...

One of our favorite scream queens has set her next project. We're talking about The Fall of the House of Usher star Kate Siegel. She's set to star in and executive produce an upcoming dark comedy called Damned If You Do. More on this project below.
Siegel is known for starring in many horror-based films and shows. Besides The Fall of the House of Usher, most people will recognize her from her roles in other Netflix horror shows such as The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor and Midnight Mass. She's also known for starring in the horror flicks Oculus, Hush, Ouija: Origin of Evil and Gerald's Game.
While we have enjoyed Siegel's performance in every horror project she's been a part of so far, we're really looking forward to seeing her take on a different genre. She's an incredible actress, so we're sure she'll knock her...

Hush and “The Fall of the House of Usher” star Kate Siegel is starring and executive producing the new Hellish dark comedy Damned If You Do, and production is underway, according to Deadline.
The film follows “a group of teenage friends who sold their souls to the devil. Naturally, life grants them different paths: a rock star, a tech mogul, and a high-profile activist. Years later, they must rely on an old classmate to try and escape Hell’s grasp before the contract’s deadline of their 25th high school reunion.”
Written by Ellen Adair and Eric Gilde, Damned If You Do marks the directorial debut of Jake Rubin and Evan Metzold.
It’s not yet clear which role Siegel will play, but expect the film to have a lot of fun with its soul-selling premise. Rubin and Metzold told Deadline, “We feel very lucky to be working with such a talented and hilarious cast.

Calling all Flana-fans: Mike Flanagan's 2016 horror hit "Hush" is headed to digital. The home invasion flick first hit Netflix in 2016, and stayed there until 2023. Sadly, that was the end of "Hush" — the film left the streaming service after Netflix's distribution license expired. And ever since then, "Hush" has been unavailable to watch anywhere else — you couldn't stream it, you couldn't rent it, and there was no (official) physical release. Thankfully, all that is about to change.
Shout! Studios in collaboration with Mike Flanagan, Intrepid Pictures, and Blumhouse, are set to release "Hush" on digital for the first time on August 27, 2024. The film will be available for purchase and/or rent across major digital entertainment platforms in the U.S. and Canada. "'Hush' is one of the projects that is closest to my heart, and I cannot think of a better home than Shout!" Flanagan said in a statement.

It’s been eight years since the Netflix release of Mike Flanagan’s home invasion horror movie Hush, but it’s interesting to note that the film is no longer streaming on Netflix. In fact, it’s currently unavailable to stream or rent/purchase Anywhere, and we’ve also never gotten a physical media release. In other words, you cannot watch Hush at all right now.
But that’s about to change…

The Fangoria Chainsaw Awards are back this year and bigger than ever.
Once again airing on AMC’s Shudder, the 2024 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards has shifted the annual awards show’s shift to October; as such, the window of this year’s eligible horrors is an expanded one, encompassing all of 2023 and the first half of 2024. That means a much bigger selection of horror titles to pull from, and with the expanded categories this year, that means a massive list of 46 nominees. They even have a new category this year: Best Video Game.
Here’s where you come in; Fangoria needs your vote to decide on the winners! We have it on good authority that some of the categories are extremely competitive right now. And voting happens to be officially open for the awards show.
Participants can cast their votes via the official Fangoria website at www.fangoria.com/vote/. Voting...

Anson Mount is currently making Trekkies swoon in his role as Captain Christopher Pike on "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds." Before him, though, there was Jeffrey Hunter and Bruce Greenwood (who played Pike in the two J.J Abrams-directed "Star Trek" films).
"Star Trek" cleverly canonized "The Cage" by reintroducing Pike as Jim Kirk's (William Shatner) predecessor as captain of the Enterprise. The 2009 "Star Trek" film (an alternate timeline origin story for the original series) took that a step further and featured Pike as Kirk's mentor. His first scene is him pushing Kirk to sign up for Starfleet.
In that role of a fatherly commanding officer, Greenwood was perfectly cast. He's an authoritative and personable screen presence, one who can even make a death merchant like opioid king Roderick Usher on "The Fall of the House of Usher" charming. With his strong but soothing voice, it makes sense that...

It’s been quite a long wait, but the Television Critics Association’s annual TCA Awards returns to an in-person event this year for the first time since 2019. After the Covid-19 pandemic and last year’s Hollywood strikes turned everything virtual for five years, the 40th annual TCA Awards takes place at the Langham Pasadena on July 12, during the half-way point of this summer’s TCA press tour.

Ever since its inception, the Indian film industry has been obsessed with two kinds of criminals: gangsters, and those who are considered terrorists by the government. And while the threat they pose to society and human life is legitimate, in reality, it’s eclipsed by private organizations and government bodies that are in charge of the lifeline of our country. Movies such as Indian (the Kamal Haasan one), Sivaji: The Boss, Mersal, Gabbar Is Back, Sardar, and Jawan have tried to draw our attention to the fact that, with each passing day, doctors, medical experts, and the CEOs of pharmacy companies are killing more people than any mythical don or terrorist group ever can. While talking about the harmful effects of capitalism on small tribes and the little land they have in their possession, Kaala Paani shone a light on how dangerous the whole nexus between private and government bodies is.

The (almost) annual tradition of watching a new V/H/S movie will continue this October with the newly announced seventh film in the franchise V/H/S/Beyond, being released on October 4 on Shudder and AMC+.
Variety exclusively reports that the seventh installment will feature some really exciting collaborations, like the directorial debut of Kate Siegel, best known for starring in projects such as The Fall of the House of Usher, Hush, and The Haunting of Hill House, all of which were created by her husband and frequent collaborator Mike Flanagan.

Be kind, rewind: the "V/H/S" franchise will return this Halloween season, with a new line-up of talent bringing six new segments to the screen. This latest film, titled "V/H/S/Beyond," will change things up a little bit by bringing sci-fi into the horror mix. Per Variety, the film "will feature six new bloodcurdling tapes, placing horror at the forefront of a sci-fi-inspired hellscape." If that wasn't enough to get you excited, maybe the folks involved will be. Perhaps most prominent among the list of names involved with this new entry is Mike Flanagan, the modern horror master whose credits include "The Haunting of Hill House," "Doctor Sleep," "Oculus," and the most recent "The Fall of the House of Usher." Flanagan isn't directing, though — instead, he wrote a segment that will be helmed by his wife Kate Siegel, who has appeared in the majority of Flanagan's films and TV shows.

Alejandro Brugués returns from “Horror Anthology Land” to direct his first solo feature since 2011’s hilarious zombie comedy Juan of the Dead in this year’s more straightforward-scary The Inheritance. Writing duo Chris Lamont and Joe Russo parallel recent releases like Mike Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher and Radio Silence’s Abigail, whether in greed-driven tones or lockdown confinement. The Inheritance was initially set to be a Netflix Original, but the streaming juggernaut dropped the completed product in early 2023, allowing producers to seek alternate distribution. It’s an odd move that presumes quality concerns, but I’ve seen far worse Netflix horror exclusives — more ambitious, but far less successful. There’s nothing awful about The Inheritance; it’s merely paint-by-numbers generational survival horror.

The only award season that matters is here! Joking (kind of), but seriously, Fangoria just released the complete list of nominees for the 2024 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards. Considering how often horror gets shut out of the mainstream award shows, it's nice to have at least one thing we can rely on year after year.
Last year's Chainsaw Awards included big wins for movies like The Black Phone, Terrifier 2, and Prey. This time, the categories are again stacked, with films like Abigail, Evil Dead Rise, The First Omen, Talk To Me, Late Night with the Devil, and many more going head to head.
Specific performances are also being highlighted, like Tobin Bell in Saw X and Kathryn Newton for both Lisa Frankenstein and Abigail. It's been a fantastic few years for horror, and it'll be exciting to see which movies pull ahead this time around.

Filmmaker Mike Flanagan has written some dark, disturbing endings in his career… but we shouldn’t expect to see much of that from him in the future. During a recent interview with actress Katee Sackhoff for the Sackhoff Show podcast, Flanagan explained why he’s done with bleak, hopeless endings.
Flanagan told Sackhoff (with thanks to Cbr for the transcription), “A lot of the stuff I was writing had really bleak endings and very hopeless endings. It pivots right after [Hill House] and everything I’ve done since then doesn’t have that.” Sackhoff asked if that’s the influence of his wife Kate Siegel coming through, and Flanagan said, “I think in a lot of ways it is. And it’s because of family. When Kate and I got together, my outlook changed a lot. We had kids of our own and the kids started growing up and it...

Horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan is being honored at Fantasia International Film Festival this year with this year's 2024 Cheval Noir career award. That’s quite an honor considering he is not even 50 years old yet, and has only been making feature films since 2011.
Fantasia is bestowing the award to Flanagan “for imaginative and heartfelt horror visions; boundary-breaking achievements in making soulful, character-driven genre television commercially viable without compromises; and the extraordinary work he’s done in popularizing landmark authors to a new generation.”
Mike Flanagan is widely recognized as one of the best modern horror filmmakers of our town, thanks to films such as Absentia, Oculus, Hush, Ouija: Origin of Evil and Doctor Sleep. He is also responsible for Netflix limited series The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher. Mike Flanagan has become the most important horror filmmaker of our time. In 2018, he signed a deal with Netflix, which gave him the long-awaited opportunity to create an anthology work.
He directed and wrote The Haunting of Hill House, a series that brought incredible success to Flanagan and had amazing ratings for streaming. Even the master of the horror industry, Stephen King, called it a work of genius.
Since then, Flanagan has been delighting fans of horror every fall with a miniseries with a special, creepy atmosphere that is conveyed not by fountains of blood, but by masterfully written dialogue and brilliant direction.
At the same time, most of his works are adaptations of novels in a modern way or in a new form. For example, The Haunting of Hill House is a loose interpretation of Shirley Jackson's novel of the same name, and The Fall of the House of Usher...

Universal has set its new Exorcist movie from Doctor Sleep helmer Mike Flanagan on an appropriate date. The pic from Blumhouse and Morgan Creek will attack theaters on Friday the 13th — March 13, 2026.
The film is described as a “radical new take” on the venerable horror franchise that has been disrupted sleep since 1973. Any potentially head-spinning plot details are being kept under wraps.
The filmmaker and producers say their new movie is not a sequel to any previous Exorcist film and that it charts a new course for the legendary franchise.

Horror Maestro Mike Flanagan’s reimagined The Exorcist film will hit theaters on March 13, 2026, Universal announced Tuesday. Put another way, this isn’t the devil you think you know.
Blumhouse and Morgan Creek’s plans for a trilogy of new The Exorcist films was derailed with the poor and polarizing response to last year’s The Exorcist Believer, directed by David Gordon Green.

Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2 debuts on Paramount+ on June 6th.
After spending 15 seasons airing weekly on CBS, Criminal Minds restructured its series by debuting Criminal Minds: Evolution. The ten-episode season debuted on Paramount+ with rave reviews, earning a second season. Executive Producer Erica Messer’s strategy to bring a more linear story to the series proved fruitful for the success of season one.
After a brief two-year hiatus, the new reincarnation of Criminal Minds with Evolution had me excited to see what they could do with the series being on a streamer vs. cable TV. I found myself attached to the series like I hadn’t in a long time, as season 1 had you on the edge of your seat with Elias Voit and the mystery of his character running rampant. Season 2 picks up right where they left off with two incredible episodes that see Zach Gilford continue to deliver a knockout performance as Voit.

We have good news to share, horror fans. There's another new horror movie you should be on the lookout for this August, and it's the film Strange Darling, starring Willa Fitzgerald and Kyle Gallner. This movie joins other theatrical horror flicks slated to be released in August, such as Cuckoo starring Hunter Schafer and M. Night Shyamalan's Trap.
Strange Darling is a horror-thriller written and helmed by indie American genre filmmaker Jt Mollner. This is his second feature. He's best known for writing the script for and directing the Western film Outlaws and Angels, which stars Chad Michael Murray, Francesca Eastwood, Teri Polo, Frances Fisher, Luke Wilson, Madisen Beaty, and Ben Browder. Joining Mollner in the crew is Giovanni Ribisi, who not only produced the horror-thriller flick but also served as Director of Photography. Other producers of the film include Bill Block, Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, and Chris Ivan Cevic.

A few months ago, we learned that Magenta Light Studios will be giving Strange Darling a wide theatrical release in the United States on August 23rd – and now a trailer has arrived online to give us a preview of what this movie will have in store for us when it reaches the big screen in a couple months. The upcoming film The Life of Chuck is the latest Stephen King adaptation from Mike Flanagan, who has previously been at the helm of the Stephen King adaptations Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep (and is also developing a series adaptation of The Dark Tower for Amazon Studios) – but it is not a horror movie. We’ve previously heard cast member David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil) describe the film as a beautiful, heartfelt drama – and now Dastmalchian’s co-star Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy) has told Movieweb that The Life of Chuck is a beautiful masterpiece.

X-men '97 Scores TCA Nomination For Outstanding New Program Alongside Shogun, Ripley & Baby Reindeer
The Television Critics Association announced their picks for the best shows of the 2023-2024 TV season on Monday, and in a pleasantly surprising development, Marvel Studios' recent Disney+ series, X-Men '97, picked up two significant nominations.
The animated revival scored nominations for Outstanding New Program and Outstanding Achievement in Family Programming.
Though X-Men '97 proved to be a big hit with fans and critics alike, it's rare that an animated series - and a superhero animated series at that - would receive any TCA recognition, especially outside of the Children's Programming category.
What are the mutant heroes' chances of picking up the win? Well, the show is up against some heavy hitters such as Shōgun, Baby Reindeer and Ripley, so, fittingly, they are the underdogs here.
Former showrunner Beau DeMayo shared the following post in response to the news.

For the second year in a row, three shows have topped the Television Critics Association nominations. “Baby Reindeer,” “Ripley” and “Shōgun” lead Monday’s nominations for the 40th annual awards with five bids each.
All three shows are up for Program of the Year, a category dominated by FX and Netflix. The former fielded three nominees with “Shōgun” “The Bear” and “Reservation Dogs,” while the latter is repped by “Baby Reindeer” and “Ripley.” Max’s “Hacks” is the sole non-fx and non-Netflix nominee.
Last year, “Succession,” “The Last of Us” and “The Bear” scored five nominations apiece. “Succession” and “The Bear” wound up with two wins each, with the former taking Program of the Year, but “The Last of Us” went 0-5.
After expanding to eight slots per category in 2021, TCA has reverted to six slots. No reason was given.
More curious, however, is the unprecedented double-dipping by three shows.

That being said, both “Baby Reindeer” and “Fargo” earned noms for Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries or Specials which is utterly head-scratching.

If anyone still thought there was such a thing as a video game adaptation curse back in 2021, then "Arcane" put the final nail in the concept's coffin. Riot Games and Studio Fortiche's adaptation of the hugely popular video game "League of Legends" was not just a phenomenal translation of the games' world and mythos, but a perfect season of television, period. It was a visually stunning animated epic with a poignant story about two sisters divided by war, featuring some of the most striking animation in either film or television, thrilling music, and a vibrant use of color and lighting.
While we continue to wait for "Arcane" season 2, there's finally something else you can do besides rewatching that fantastic trailer over and over again. At the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Oscar-winning animation distributor Gkids have announced that they acquired global (minus China) rights to home video releases for "Arcane...
