Looks like cerulean is coming back in style.
Producer Wendy Finerman and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna are said to be back at work developing a sequel to the dishy 2006 hit “The Devil Wears Prada.” A deal has not been formally announced, but a recent reuniting of the three main stars, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt at the SAG Awards earlier this year showed that the troika seemed eager to fan the flames of buzz for a long-rumored second film. (Puck first reported this wisp of news.)
Supposedly the new film checks in with Streep’s Miranda Priestly, who still runs the fashion magazine “Runway,” but now has to navigate a brave new world of online publishing, and, no doubt, social media influencers. Blunt’s Emily Charlton is now the head of a fashion brand that advertises with “Runway.” Whether Hathaway’s character winds up back in the mix is unclear,...

Have we all figured out the difference between blue and cerulean yet? Because Miranda Priestly may be about to re-enter the building.
Disney is in early development on a sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada,” IndieWire has learned, with the 2006 film’s original screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna in talks to write the script. Wendy Finerman is producing the project.
No deals are in place yet, and it’s too early to tell whether any of the original cast will return. But Puck, which first reported the news, says Meryl Streep is expected to reprise her role as the fashion magazine editor-in-chief Priestly.
Disney had no comment.
Starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, “The Devil Wears Prada” was an adaptation of the 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger and quickly became a runaway hit, earning nearly $326 million worldwide at the box office against just a $35 million budget.

Looks like legacy sequels aren't just for action blockbusters.
According to Puck News (and confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter), a sequel to 2006's "The Devil Wears Prada" is currently in development. Aline Brosh McKenna, screenwriter of the original film, will reportedly pen this follow-up, which is being spearheaded by original "The Devil Wears Prada" producer Wendy Finerman. Deadline reports that the original film's director, David Frankel, is also in talks to return.
Reports at this time indicate that the original film's main cast have not locked deals to return yet. However, reported story details indicate the script is being written with the intent of at least Streep and Blunt returning (more on that soon). Streep is the reason the original film came together, so (pure speculation here), without her there's probably no movie this time around.

Gird your loins. Miranda Priestly is set to deliver more withering glances in a sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada.”
Disney is developing a sequel to the hit 2006 movie starring Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, the high-powered fashion magazine editor from hell with Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt as her harried assistants Andrea Sachs and Emily Charlton.
The original film’s screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is in talks to return to pen the next chapter. Who from the original cast will return is not clear, but the storyline reportedly follows Priestly as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing and faces off against Blunt’s character, now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs.
Based on Lauren Weisberger’s dishy 2003 novel about a young woman’s nightmarish experience working at a fashion magazine (Weisberger worked as a personal assistant...

The Devil Wears Prada musical has revealed a stunning first social media glimpse of Vanessa Williams as Miranda Priestly.
The musical began preview performances at the Theatre Royal Plymouth in London July 6. It will run through August 17, prior to opening at West End’s Dominion Theatre in October.
If the promo is any indication, Williams seems to be an almost satanic version of the fashion magazine mogul first brought to life on film 18 years ago by Meryl Streep.
The clip starts with Williams popping up, as the screen announces, “Miranda has arrived.”
The star wearing a red sequin gown and a matching duster jacket. She quickly flashes her coat open to give a full-body look at the striking outfit.
The musical, which features an original score by Elton John, is derived from Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel and the successful 2006 film, which earned $326.7 million globally against a budget of $35-41 million...

Shaft star Richard Roundtree has died at the age of 81. Samuel L. Jackson, who starred in the 2000 and 2019 Shaft remakes, honored Roundtree’s memory in a touching tribute on Instagram following the news of his death. More of Roundtree’s co-stars and fans, like Gabrielle Union and Sheryl Lee Ralph, have also paid tribute to the late star. Roundtree died on Tuesday, October 24 in his Los Angeles home surrounded by family. He died after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. The actor, dubbed the first Black action hero, was a groundbreaking figure in Hollywood history. Playing private eye John Shaft marked an historic shift in Hollywood. Thanks to the success of the Gordon Parks-directed action-thriller, Black characters became main characters of films and TV shows instead of being stuck as sidekicks. Shaft is considered one of the first of the Blaxpoitation genre, and its legacy echoes in Hollywood today.

Tracy Chapman was one of the most influential artists of the latter 20th century. The folk singer, who first rose to prominence with her self-titled debut album in 1988, has penned generation-defining hits like “Give Me One Reason” and “Fast Car.” The latter recently had a resurgence due to a cover by country singer Luke Combs, which managed to out-peak the original and rise up to number-two on the Billboard Hot 100 for multiple weeks. “Fast Car’s” rediscovery is proof that Chapman has always been one of music’s greats, but the industry has always loved her. Back when she debuted, she earned six Grammy nominations and won three, including the coveted Best New Artist award.
SEEGrammy flashback: Remembering Prince’s greatest triumphs and his most unforgivable snubs
Chapman’s road to Bna glory was relatively smooth. When her debut album came out it got rave reviews, praising her storytelling the most.

Chances are, if you’ve seen Sia onstage at any point in recent years, her face was most likely shielded by an oversize (and often very colorful) wig. But the Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter left the extra hair at home Sunday when she turned up to the Taglyan Complex in Los Angeles to attend the 5th Daytime Beauty Awards.
Not only did she take the stage and show off her full face, but what she revealed under the lights was also brand-new. “I’m a pop star that normally hides my face and doesn’t lie about shit,” explained the 47-year-old who has been candid during interviews about everything from depression and divorce to sobriety and creativity. “I got an amazing facelift from Dr. Talei. This is getting a small theatrical and then VOD release at the end of October. It's a comedy about friends bonding while on a trip to a food fest. Aspiring chef Lizzy sets off with her three best friends in tow to compete in the prestigious Saucy Food Festival. What begins as a calculated career move quickly turns into a madcap misadventure full of food, fun and female bonding, where the girls learn that "struggle" can be the secret ingredient. Which is literally exactly what one of the characters says to them. This stars Leah Lewis, Ashley Moore, Ariel Winter, Sasha Fox, and Vanessa Williams. “Smash,” the TV series about the making of a fictional Broadway musical, takes an early step toward becoming a real-life Broadway musical on Sept. 22, with a pair of industry readings led by Tony nominees Robyn Hurder and Kerry Butler.

It’s Day 12 of the SAG-AFTRA strike and Day 85 of the WGA strike.
With enough famous actors to populate an awards show all gathered on one stage, the labor union representing them in an “existential battle” against film and television studios held a star-studded strike rally in the middle of New York’s Times Square on Tuesday morning.
An audience of several hundred people including card-waving members of SAG-AFTRA squeezed into a barricaded pedestrian plaza on a humid day when at least one spectator required medical attention. At an event dubbed “Rock the City for a Fair Contract,” they heard almost two hours worth of speeches from union representatives and from high-profile acting peers including Bryan Cranston, Christine Baranski, Wendell Pierce, Christian Slater, Stephen Lang, Michelle Hurd, Jill Hennessy and Steve Buscemi.

Since the category of supporting actress in a comedy series was launched at the Primetime Emmy Awards in the mid-1960s, only 13 African American performers had been nominated in total leading up to this year. Just two had won: Jackee Harry for “227” in 1987 and Sheryl Lee Ralph last year for “Abbott Elementary.” But the category, and the Emmys in general, received a radical shake-up this morning when four Black actresses cracked the lineup of nominees: Ralph and Janelle James for “Abbott,” Ayo Edebiri for “The Bear” and Jessica Williams for “Shrinking.” That’s more than half the seven slots allotted to the category. There have never been more than two in that lineup previously.
Indeed, if that seems like a lot, it should. No Emmy performer category has ever featured four women of color in the same year and precious few have ever included three. Consider that the count...

What a drag. Paramount+ has cancelled the Queen of the Universe TV series, so the streamer won't be making a third season. Not only that, the show is being pulled from the service less than two weeks after the last batch of episodes were released.
Hosted Graham Norton, Queen of the Universe features the world's fiercest drag performers as they sing live and debut new musical performances before a studio audience and the Pop Diva Panel of judges. Their hope is to be crowned the "Queen of the Universe." Judges for season two include Michelle Visage, Vanessa Williams, Trixie Mattel, and Mel B.Read More…...

Well, Paramount+ went there.
The streaming service on Friday canceled a wave of original series, and there are some shockers.
Before we dig into the cancellations, the canceled shows will be removed from its platform as the company takes a content write-down.
The news isn't too surprising. HBO Max opened the floodgates for the likes of Showtime and Starz to pull shows off the air and their platforms.
In fact, some shows didn't even see the light of day. It's a precedent that is a stark reminder of how media companies are set up nowadays.
We'll begin with Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, which launched earlier this year.
Despite a strong critical response, the series will not be returning.
"Before rock 'n' roll ruled, before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school, four fed-up outcasts dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever,...
