'I saw a car crash on the news and felt jealous': The Block's Jess Eva, 33, reveals her struggle with postnatal depression after the birth of her first child and says she's 'surprised husband Norm Hogan didn't leave her'
The Block contestant Jess Eva has opened up about her struggle with postnatal depression (PND) after the birth of her first child, Freddie.
Speaking to Woman's Day on Monday, the 33-year-old Queenslander said the 'horrible' disorder even made her contemplate her own death.
'I was watching the news and there'd been a fatal car crash. I was jealous. That's the sort of emotion I felt at the time,' Jess confessed.

'It's such a horrible thing to go through, I was so mean to Norm [Hogan, her husband] and called him horrible things, but I was screaming for help and didn't realise it,' she explained.
The mother-of-two added that she was surprised Norm 'didn't leave her' during the extremely difficult period in their marriage.
'How Norm didn't leave me, I don't know. It wouldn't surprise me if a marriage broke down over undiagnosed postnatal depression,' she said.

The breakfast radio presenter said she realised she was suffering from PND after one of her social media followers expressed concern over a blog post she had written.
Afterwards, Jess decided to 'speak to someone' about her feelings.
Flash forward two years and Jess and Norm happily welcomed their second child, Matilda.
Currently one in seven mothers in Australia are affected by postnatal depression.
Meanwhile, Jess and Norm have been embroiled in a credit card scandal on the Channel Nine show in recent weeks.
They denied unauthorised spending on the credit card provided to them by Channel Nine strictly for building purposes.
An employee from Suncorp, an official sponsor of the show, confronted the couple about discrepancies in their spending during an episode last month.
A statement from their account shown $94 had been spent on liquor in Woolworths and $34 on a charcoal chicken.
