Patsy Kensit is quitting Emmerdale for Holby City.
The actress will play a nurse in the BBC1 medical drama from next October.
For the past two years she has played Emmerdale superbitch Sadie King.
But the job involved her commuting to the Yorkshire Dales during the week while her children stayed in London.
"After two fantastic years at Emmerdale and ITV, I am thrilled to be offered the opportunity of joining Holby City at the BBC," Kensit said.
"I will really miss all my friends and colleagues at Emmerdale when I leave next August but look forward to living and working in London full time. Holby City is a brilliant show."
Kensit, 37, has signed a year-long contract for the hospital drama.
Holby City producers said: "We are delighted to confirm that Patsy Kensit is joining the cast of Holby City.
"She is a talented and popular actress who lights up the screen.
"Her character will come into the show as a nurse who has more than a few secrets to hide and an attitude that cannot fail to ruffle the feathers of her colleagues."
