Manchester City goalkeeper

Kasper Schmeichel owes his place

in today's Manchester derby to a

mock fight at the training ground.

Schmeichel, son of United and

City legend Peter, was only fourth

choice last season and spent time

on loan at Bury and Falkirk.

Even with Nicky Weaver having

left and Swedish No 1 Andreas

Isaakson injured, Schmeichel was

still behind England Under-21

goalkeeper Joe Hart in the pecking

order until a silly piece of training

ground tomfoolery left Hart with a

dislocated finger.

Hart was

grappling with Schmeichel and

tried to jump on him for a

piggyback ride when he got his

finger caught in the Dane's jersey.

By the time Hart had recovered he

had missed most of pre-season

and Schmeichel was the man in

possession of the jersey.

The Dane has not conceded a goal

in two games and Eriksson said: "I

am not concerned at all about him

playing in the derby. I have two

very good young goalkeepers."

Schmeichel Snr is away filming

for a television show in Belgium.
