A father has appeared in court today to deny murdering his terminally ill son.
Former security guard Andrew Wragg, 36, is accused of murdering 10-year-old Jacob, who suffered with Hunter Syndrome.
Wragg, of Worthing, West Sussex, who formerly worked in Iraq, appeared at Lewes Crown Court wearing a suit and tie. He entered a not guilty plea to the alleged murder on July 24 this year.
Judge Richard Brown set a provisional trial date for February 28 and adjourned the case until January 18 for a preliminary hearing.
Jacob was found at the family home after a 999 call was made on July 24. He died later at Worthing Hospital.
Wragg, who today spoke only to confirm his name and enter his plea, and his wife Mary, 40, were arrested and detained until July 26 when the defendant was charged.
Mrs Wragg, who has campaigned to raise money for suffers of Hunter Syndrome, which causes progressive physical and mental deterioration, was released without charge.
Wragg was remanded in custody before being granted bail by Judge Brown on August 5. His bail was extended at today's hearing.
